lets face it we have needed a real tightend and Real linebackers that can fill holes and actually cover tight ends.

I am thinking something like this to solidify those two seemingly decade long holes.

A draft like this still leaves a need for another body at DL and Rb but the corner and wr where better in my opinion then the value for the dL and rbs left.

Thoughts?

How about Goedert in round 2 and come back with Ian Thomas or Adam Brenneman in round 4? I was thinking something similar. Go from weakness to potential strength.

Doubling up isn’t a terrible strategy but it depends how the draft falls. Davis/smith and Merling/Langford didn’t work out exactly but I thought it was a fine strategy
You did a great job of pointing out specific examples of right strategy doesn't always work out.

I hope if we double down then it's in a strong talent area of this year's class. Doubling down with a 16 hand in blackjack is a sure way to go broke unless you really can see the cards. :)

Basing the likelihood of success of a strategy on how it worked out for previous FOs doesn't make any sense.

We could double on LB corp IMO, I could see a Roquan Smith pick and later a Darius Leonard pick

I don't see as much need at LB as everyone else seems to. We don't even play 3 LBs every down as it is. Assuming we add one early we have draft pick, RM, Kiko, with Allen, Anthony, and Hull as solid backup/depth guys. I still think the Anthony trade was a complete waste of a pick if the guy is not even good enough to start on this team. We could really use that draft pick now.

I'm hoping this year's QB crop pushes some LBers into our laps. I'd love Smith @ 11. This kid is everywhere on the field. Reminds me some of Zach.

If Leonard in the 2nd, that would be a heck of a young core of LBs for this team's future. With Smith, Leonard and McMillan, we would finally have the ability to defend inside and outside. Speed, coverage and instincts are what we sorely need.

I'm actually looking at tigh end Matt Flannigan of Pittsburgh as a late pick of udfa and either Chris Herndon, Matt Bauagh or Tyler Conklin in the 5th or 6th round range. I know Miami currently doesn't have a 5th round pick but they're no too difficult to get if there's a player in that range you really want.
