I know that a lot of South Florida fans are thrilled that we drafted Lamar Miller. But I think he only caught something like 17 passes last season (in 12 games) and only 11 the year before in 11 games.

As far as special teams is concerned, he returned 3 punts in 2010 and zero in 2011. Kick off returns were 8 returns in 2010 and 7 in 2011.

So Lamar Miller has little experience at catching the ball or retuning kicks or punts.

I wanted us to take a R Bush replacement (he is on final year of his $5 mill a season contract), someone like Darron Sproles. And I had a player in mind, a player we could of taken.

Lamar Miller "can be" a good NFL running back but he has only had two years of play (being injured both years) and does not seem like a possible replacement for a Bush/Sproles type of player.

No .. we got a potential home run hitter no matter what round we took him.. and in this case an extreme value considering the actual round in which we took him.

Lamichael James would have fit the bill nicely in your case.

But the 2nd round pick was used an a MUCH bigger team need in RT, that was a stellar pickup right there!

Thats what we have reggie for. Lamar purpose will be to take handoffs and take them to the house, thats the purpose of drafting him and also moving up to get him.

Lamar Miller (RB, Miami); Fourth Round to Miami Dolphins How often do 5’11”, 212-pound 1,200-yard backs with sub-4.4 speed fall to the fourth round? Answer: never, at least until this year.
Miami doesn’t fit into that well-run franchise category, but they got plenty of value by trading up for the borderline first-round prospect

he was great value in the 4th round, he had a 1st round grade so it was a smart move by Ireland, he runs a 4.4/40 and is a home run threat especially returning kicks.

Has he ever returned a kick or a punt for a TD?

Why does anyone think he will be any good at it?

And I expect this to be R Bush's last season unless he takes a large pay cut.

Like everyone else has said, the biggest reason Miami picked him was because he was a early 2nd round talent who was still there in the 4th. He's a home run threat and he can become a good altrenative to Thomas.

Yep he housed a kickoff at ohio state two seasons ago. I feel like im forgetting one or two more that he had at the U.

Besides his speed, his vision is very underrated and that'll translate well. He returned kicks and punts sparingly, but has taken one to the house before.

Cool, I feel a little better.

Although to be honest, it was a short kick and he really did not have anyone in position to tackle him. He will not see a short kick like that in the NFL.

I think since he was such an important part of the offense, they didn't use him in the return game as much as they normally would have. What I love is that not only does he have high 4.3-low 4.4 speed, but he will break the little arm tackles. Unlike Ginn who needed a lane and rarely did anything after contact.

I will never forget Reggie putting into a gear I hadn't seen from any Dolphins skill player during those first preseason games. Miller's gear is right there too and if he can learn the great work habits from Reggie, it will be fun to watch.

I was thrilled by the Miller pick. This is the last year of Bush's contract, and who knows if Thomas will produce this year.
