Should we have drafted a better pass catching/special teams RB?

I see him more of a "running" running back then as a replacement for R Bush. Although we did use R Bush as a "running" running back last season. Which was weird......D Thomas had that hamstring injury all season which only gets better if ou stay off of it so I'm hoping we will be much improved this season.

I had another player in mind as a Darron Sproles type of special teams and 3rd down running back but I doubt he would get a lot of support here. I do wish we could of gotten both L Miller and my player (we could of also).

Every year I try not to "what if" since what is done is done and cannot be changed.

I'll feel better when I see L Miller return some kicks AND some punts. Heck, I'll feel better once training camp stats, lol.

Why do you assume since he didn't catch many passes that he's not a good receiver? Miller does a good job finding the ball and has very soft hands. He didn't catch many balls because he was pulled a lot on 3rd downs because he's not very good in pass protection. If he was, he would have had a lot more opportunities to catch some balls

Who is the RB you were wanting?

Chris Rainey. We could of had both of them which I would of loved. C Rainey even blocked a punt last season and is a dangerous punt and kick off returner. He is a "lesser" version of Percey Havin which is not a bad thing.

I think Lamar Miller is more of a 1st and 2nd down back and C Rainey is more of a 3rd down back.

Cool, I feel a little better.

Although to be honest, it was a short kick and he really did not have anyone in position to tackle him. He will not see a short kick like that in the NFL.
I feel like most kick returns for a touchdown have similar issues.

Rainey definitely proved to be a more versatile player in college, but I do like Miller's potential in the pros a little more. Rainey is like a smallER version of Harvin. I didn't watch a ton of florida games, but it seems they were used in the same role. Not saying Rainey won't be a solid pro, but I think we will all be really happy with the Miller pick in a couple years.

Has he ever returned a kick or a punt for a TD?

Why does anyone think he will be any good at it?

And I expect this to be R Bush's last season unless he takes a large pay cut.[/QU

LUG and others, here is another set of highlights. He started off the season running hard but really started running fairly soft and protecting the shoulder right around this game. The last season was somewhat of a blur to me. So I am sure some others can chime in on when he started "protecting" the shoulder.

I KNEW he was talking about Rainey.

Would have been a good pickup but even I think he is a tad smallish for most of his NFL roles. He is not in the same class as Harvin but close.

Miller reminds me, from what little I have seen of him (I despise, ignore and hold in contempt the u) of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Straight north-south hit-the-hole burst.

We need about 3 good ones like that with the possibility of injury to Bush (and really any of the smallish RB's). Bush, Thomas and Miller are a very Saints-like RB corps. Not too bad.
