Should we have given VY a shot instead of Garrard?

Please make it stop, Young is pure garbage.

A lot of useless, knee-jerk replies so far.

First of all, his record is 31-19 as a starter. Garrard is 39-37.

Second, though his overall passer rating may not look like much, the fact is it has risen steadily to the point where he was 5th in the NFL his final season in Tennessee. His first two seasons, he relied more on his legs a la Tebow. Now he is a pocket passer who can use his legs when necessary.

Discounting seasons where he only started a handful of games, his QB ratings are:

2006 - 67
2007 - 71
2009 - 82
2010 - 99

Third, in his three games in Philly he had one egg vs Seattle but good games vs the Giants and Patriots, the two teams who made the Super Bowl. Who's to say he hasn't left Philly on his own because he wants a chance to compete for a starter's job?

Bottom line is that if the FO hasn't at least called Andy Reid to ask about Young, they aren't doing their job.

I knew a longhorn homer would be in to bring up the titans record sooner or later. He's a free agent that has not had a single visit to any NFL team since free agency started...which tells you everything you need to know.

You can accuse me of being a homer, but I also have followed VY much more closely than most people. I know for example the idea that he is not a good passer is simply a rap he gets for being a mobile QB. this was true even in college, where he led the NCAA in pass efficiency his final season but still got labeled a running QB.

I also followed the saga with Jeff Fisher. Fisher adamantly opposed VY but got egg over his face when Bud Adams forced him to change to VY in 2009, and the result was a 0-6 to 8-2 turnaround. Fisher never got over it and continued the fight to the next season despite VY continuing to win and post top flight QB ratings, the best of his career in fact. Fisher kept looking for ways to undermine Adams' decision, ultimately causing a 5-2 season to become 5-5. VY is very competitive and he finally had it out with Fisher in the locker room. This led to not only his ousting from TN but his current reputation in NFL FOs. What did Fisher get as a result of ousting VY? The Titans finished 1-5 with Collins and Fisher then lost his job.

Colt McCoy is also a former UT QB and a current NFL starter. I would take VY over McCoy in a heartbeat. VY has a track record of winning that many current starters and backups, including Moore and Garrard, do not.

Give VY a legitimate chance to compete as a starter with a full offseason and no Jeff Fisher, and VY will flourish. I am convinced of this.

32 GM's and HC's wish to differ with you. There is one truism in the NFL, if you produce you will find a place to play. If you doubt this, I will point to TO and his stints in BUF and CINCI.

BS. At the time of VY's final pass as a Titan he was in the Top 5 in the NFL in pass efficiency and had won 16 of his previous 21 starts. He blows up at Jeff Fisher for not letting him back in the game and all of a sudden he is toast as a starter. The good 'ol boy network in action.

Here are his 2009 highlights. This is after Bud Adams forced Fisher to bench Collins for Young. VY's QBR rating for that season put him 6th in the NFL. In 2009-10, the Titans were 12-6 with Young starting and 2-12 when he did not. Yet VY has not been a starter since and the coach who fought tooth and nail to keep him on the bench is considered a top NFL coach. Utter insanity.

IMO, no one gives a crap about Fisher's opinion of Vince Young. If he could help, he would have a job

Cutting to the chase you've made 29 posts/threads since 7/20/11 and Evey ****ing single one of them have been about pimping that mental midget. There's not a single post that would indicate you're a legitimate Fins fan or anything other than a Mr. Wonderlic 6 fanboy. Heaven knows on how many other team fansites you're ponderously pimping your pariah. Until you can prove your fin fandom. is real, and that you're more than a monotonous 1-trick pony there's absolutely no reason anyone should take any of your arguments seriously

You and the "Good Ole Boy Network". Its not a ****ing conspiracy! He was given a chance LAST YEAR on a NEW TEAM, and failed. He isn't sought after, and it isn't because of being black balled. IF YOU CAN PLAY, YOU WILL FIND A HOME IN THE NFL.

TEAM OBLITERATOR and his ability to continue to play in BUF and CINCY prove your hypothetical completely wrong. Pine for the bum, but it doesn't matter. KY isn't relevant today or tomorrow. Maybe you should start getting used to it.:ponder:
