As a Dolphins fan and a Saban Supporter, I back up Saban on most of the descisions that he has made so far. However I do think that picking up a young quarterback through the draft or FA would not have been a bad idea. Supposedly Saban was going to pick up Orton in the third, but decided to pick up Travis Daniels instead. After seeing Orton Progressively get better week by week I think that maybe we should have picked up Orton. One of the main reasons that teams passed on this guy had alot to do with a minor flaw in his mechanics, which has since been corrected. Purdue is in a pretty good conference. Orton played against some pretty good competition while being the starter at Purdue. Am I alone here, or did we miss out on an opportunity by not picking up Kyle Orton?

I think the answer to that is pretty obvious I wanted the guy bad but I think they picked right before us in that round or something I can't really remember been hanging out with Ricky too much.

:rofl3: Me too man. His stock fell dramatically his senior year which put him under the radar a bit. I think the bears got a steal that could have easily gone to us had we picked him up in the 3rd.

I think the question is, "Did you ask the right girl to the prom?" As it is the same exact question.

It def appears that way so far I've watch some of his highlights and he seems to have a cannon he was a Heisman canidate before his injury. and started playing well again towards the end of the season h would have been a steal for us.

He has a terrible habit of patting the ball before his release. Overall he's looked good for the Bears.

No use in second guessing at this point.....

We are what we are right now, and next year brings a whole new opportunity for us to find our QB of the future....

PHINZ RULE!!

I think you can sit there, and 2nd guess, every pick, of every round, of every draft. As they say, "Hindsight is 20/20.". Wonder how many teams are thinking "I wish we would have taken Zach Thomas in the 4th round.", or "I wish we would have taken Jason Taylor in the 2nd round." etc...
Just my opinion, but with the LB injuries the Fins have had this year of late, w/o Crowder being taken in the 3rd, we are hurting in that area alot more than what we are. Same thing for the Daniels pick, and the secondary.

Yeah I can agree with that. I think it's time that we quit playing around and find our QB for the future.

If Saban was considering taking Orton in at #70 (3rd) instead of Crowder, would be surprised he'd pass on Orton at #104 (4th). If he was deciding between Crowder-Daniels-Orton in the 3rd, Saban could have been trying to trade a 2006 3rd to get them all but didn't get any takers.
