i still don't think so, jake will be a pro-bowler the next 10 yr's.... it's still to early to see who is the better player..........

remember after ronnie first year when everyone thought caddilac williams was the better pick .......

I just ask myself- could Ryan complete a pass with only 1.5 seconds to take the snap and throw the ball?

as soon as i do, i realize the answer to your question is crystal clear.

While I won't make a judgment on who is better until at least a couple of years of play (unless something changes), I thin kwe made the right decision taking an OL first.

So I agree with your first gut instinct.

No i am happy with our draft we got a good Rookie QB and a good Veteran QB

I wanted to take Ryan, but hopefully Jake will give us the pass protection we need and help our running game. Henne looks good and he's smart, so hopefully 2-3 years he'll be ready to go.

We could have beat the Jets, we should have won last week and doubt starts to set in.

Everyone had the Cowboys picked to win it all and though many thought I was nuts when I said Dallas has an average team, and that Romo was an average QB, in todays NFL.

We can what-if everything, but that's what makes following this league and our team.

Sammie Smith was supposed to be a great back, he had the size and all, yet mentally he did not have a love or passion that some rare players and fans such as ourselves have.

Sooner or later, the fans will start to boo you no matter who you are...

Nice subject though....

I wanted Jake but you have to admit Ryan looks very composed for a rookie and seems to have all the skills. Then again QB's at the top are so hard to predict and Henne looks like a keeper down the road a bit in what he has showed so far.

I promise you that ryan would not look very composed here when he took a 2 1/2 step drop and then got a face full of dirt on his first 10 series as a miami dolphin.

Getting ryan would be like buying a rolls royce on janitors wages
sure it would look pretty
but you wouldnt be able to keep it long
and when it was finally taken away from you- it wouldnt be very pretty.

It would also be like trying to find a big name, big time receiver when you dont have a qb that could get him the ball.

I like building from the inside out- lines, linebackers, backs, dbs then receivers

but everyone is different

right on

I am happy with Jake long and I was completely wrong about Matt Ryan(just 5 games so i wont enshrine him already).

I hate to brag, but I do believe I have a knack for picking the best first round quarterbacks in the draft. In 2003 I was driving the Rivers bandwaggon, I was begging and pleading for us to trade up to nab him. I never wanted Lienhart, Smith, or anybody else really, relitive to our draft possition, but I was very high on the Matt Ryan bandwaggon. He will be a great quarterback for years to come. To answer your question, the jury is still out. Jake Long has been terriffic for us and he will only get better. Time will tell but no regrets, this team acted in the best interest, with what we knew at the time, both were great picks. Lets just be happy he is in the NFC.

I don't understand are you trying to say Atlanta is a much better team then us and that's why he's having success. I don't see that, I see a rookie QB looking like a future star. I was and still am a huge suporter of J.Long, but I can admit that Ryan has looked terrific as a rookie.

I love Matt Ryan and he looks very very good this season as a rookie. He's calm, he shows poise in the pocket and he isn't making the traditional rookie mistakes.

However, we all know that a quarterback can only be as good as his offensive line will allow him to be. Without Jake Long, our offensive line in far below average and Chad is probably running for his life. Matt Ryan in Miami behind our line minus Jake Long would resemble David Carr in Houston.
