Sam Madison is a free agent. Four-time Pro Bowler Cornerback for the Dolphins remember? We could sign him as an assistant to help teach our CB's not to get burned by long balls

What if we sign him to MENTOR Vontae Davis and Sean Smith?

Sam Madison lives in South Florida right now. He could do this EASY! He's a free agent with time on his hands. Sure, he wants to play football, but what if we can still sign him as an assistant coach to mentor our two young CB's ?

What you guys think?

He has a lot to teach these guys, Sean Smith and Vontae Davis could learn a lot.

We don't have the roster spots to afford such a luxury. Who do you cut or demote to the practice squad (where they might get picked up by another team)?

then lets sign urban meyer to special teams ;] but is there any way he could be some kind of coach and not on the active roster? i like the idea though.. id also like Namadi or Bowe

You want to sign a player just for 1 game? Im sorry man, and I know our secondary is in the bottom third of the league, but this is one of the dumbest idea's I have ever heard. You can't sign someone for 1 game, I mean you can, but it wont get us anywhere. It would probably hurt us

nono, not to PLAY the game

to MENTOR our Cornerbacks so we don't get torched by the Saints long balls. Like an assistant, you know how the Lakers signed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to mentor Andrew Bynum, and the Magic signed Patrick Ewing to mentor Dwight Howard?

Deep balls have been our huge problem this season and the Saints are gonna own us. It's been our weakness.

I don't know who our secondary coach is off the top of my head. Whoever he is, he certainly could use some help in motivating these guys and getting them in the right positions to make plays. I don't see anything wrong with hiring Madison on as some sort of consultant or in an advisory capacity. Sean Smith is the only one in the secondary that I see who's consistently in position to make a play on the ball. If this kid ever learns how to tackle, watch out.

Nah, our youngens need to learn, trial by fire. I think our safeties need to provide alot more support and we need to pressure the QB. If we can do both we will be more then fine. Oh and lets not forget, run run run keep their offense off the field :)

Sam Madison lives right here in South Florida, guys

He is living with his family in his home down here. All he has to do is get in his car and drive over to Landshark stadium and tutor our 2 rookie cornerbacks.

The guy is a 4 time pro bowler. Ex Dolphin. Imagine if he teaches them all the tricks he's learned that only EXPERIENCE brings you. This could help improve both of our young guys overnight by learning a few tricks and improving their fundamentals.

We are gonna need help to beat the Saints. Everyone knows we are helpless vs the long ball

We're actually not hopeless vs the deep ball. The coaching staff has just been stubborn to this point in adjusting to it. It's actually this simple:

PUT SEAN SMITH ON THE OPPOSING TEAMS BEST RECEIVER REGARDLESS OF WHERE HE LINES UP, EVEN IF HE GOES IN MOTION, AND PLAY THE SAME COVERAGE BEHIND IT. Smith has been beaten on 1 deep ball this season, in the San Diego game, and that's only because he went for the interception instead of batting the ball down. This was by his own admission.

Oh, In that case I think it would be a great idea... I wouldnt be opposed to sparano hiring him full time to coach our young guys. Im sure he was integral in aaron ross's and corey websters development

I don't get it. What's so bad about bringing in an exDolphin 4 time pro bowler to help coach our two rookie cornerbacks?
