I like Terrence Fede. He's a talented young DE, but we're four deep now at the position with Wake, Williams, Branch and Jones.

The OG position is still unsettled with a cast of unknown quantities- Tunsil, Bushrod, Urbik, Turner, Douglas and imo a goner in Dallas Thomas. For all the promise that this year's draft brought, let's face it- Tunsil is a Tackle with superb athleticism and feet being asked to play Guard. Even if he works out this year at OG, the other Guard position is cluttered and unsettled at best. Moving Turner from his natural OT position to OG has failed so far, Douglas may prove to be a career back up, Bushrod has always been an OT and Urbik is a street FA. I'm still intrigued by Anthony Steen, we'll see if he can produce anything.

But we need a pure Guard. Leary doesn't want to be in Dallas, he was part of the NFL's best and most dominant OL before the Cowboys lucked out with La'el Collins and he took Leary's job. Leary wants out. Dallas wants value in return for him if they move him and they need help at DE with Randy Gregory uncertain and Greg Hardy gone. They made a good move imo and drafted DE Charles Tapper, that might take some of the pressure off.

Like I said, I like Terrence Fede. But I might like a good, pure OG on our roster even more.

I would like that ... Not sure Dallas would agree to it but worth a shot

Trade a young talented DE for a disgruntled 2nd string G, beaten out by a rookie, with one year left on his contract? Not if I am GM.

I don't think Coach Gase shares your view on this.
First-year head coach Adam Gase demands versatility on the offensive line. It was challenging to keep up with the different combinations of linemen playing different positions Thursday. For example, first-round pick Laremy Tunsil saw reps at left guard and left tackle, and Billy Turner, who started at guard last year, saw extended time at right tackle. Jamil Douglas also saw reps at both guard and center.

"When you go into a game and you have seven guys active, you better have a whole bunch of guys that know how to play a lot of different positions," Gase explained Thursday. "If you're going to do it, this is the time to do it."

Guard is a valid concern with me too, but we are long in the tooth on the DL at end and Fede maybe an answer there. I won't miss OV's penchant for either taking plays off or personal foul penalty's.

Don't know how much the game has changed and our staff seems to play by their own rules which hopefully knock our sox off in the end but in all my years following the Dolphins have seen the need for and OL to play and have time to gel as a unit the more they play together usually the better they can become.I know its still early but hope this musical OL doesn't turn around and bite us in the old proverbial ass.. I wouldn't mess with Tunsil and I'd keep him there at LT and worry more about what to do with Albert. Put the line in place and give them as much time to gel as possible.

Afraid they feel we are set at OL and Leary not even considered ( mistake IMO)

I don't think we're deep enough at DE to be trading away Fede. He's rotational now but he has the frame to be a good power rusher off the edge.

Bro we haven't gotten into summer camp yet. What could be a position of depth now, could be a position of need if a team has the right injuries. Plus I am not trading anyone until this new coaching staff gets to see what they have in the players and how they play together.

So if you're the GM you wouldn't trade a player who might be your fifth best de for a guard who would start for you and has made the pro bowl? I don't think people realize how good Leary is. Just because the Cowboys felt Collins could be better doesn't mean Leary was bad.

If your sister had balls she be your brother. With some of the age on the D line you are willing to let a young Fede go? If Leary was all that and a bag of chips don't you think Dallas would hold on to him? If Gase thought we needed a guard to add to the O line then we would have added a player like Slaussen that signed with the Chargers who could play guard and center.

That would depends on the asking price of the trade, the contract the player wants and that player's health.

You would also have to weigh your decision on the potential of the player you are trading away. Is the player a future starter or just a role player.

Fede's a good young player, I would rather keep him. But he's 5th on the depth chart and we could use a pure Guard imo. Tough call.
