I'm sure Frerotte would be open to restrcuturing his deal to remain our backup QB. He's not going to get a starting job anywhere so he might as well stay here and remain our backup. He knows the system, wouldn't he be the veteran QB we need? Why is he our last choice?

Not unless he takes a major paycut and promises he won't start trouble. He has already lashed out that he is the starting qb like it or not and has shown that he isn't comfortable with someone else coming in moreless. I say let him go with his 7 int 5 fumbles at the begining of the year.

He has already been asked to restructure his contract and he has balked at that. The only way he's with the team on opening day is if we don't sign Brees and/or someone is injured.

I thought the Ravens were interested in Frerotte?

(hah, they don't trust Kyle Boller or Anthony Wright)

I don't know why you'd be sure. He was asked to do exactly that and has balked. He is our last choice as a starter. My guess is that he is still holding out hope to start somewhere. Once that's exhausted then he will weigh backup options.

Would you trust either of those two? Gus is an improvement over both of them.

I say NO, I think the damage is already done. It wont be a good situation period!

Here's a suggestion, let's cut Gus, he could go back to Minnesota as a starter to replace Culpepper, and we can get Brees.

If not Gus we should have someone else in place especially if we get Brees, A

As a former recovering shoulder surgery patient (torn Labrum)it is recommended that you wait 12 months before particpating in athletic events.

A return to overhead throwing, tennis strokes and contact sports require at least six months of rehabilitation, and a full return to competitive overhead sports requires 12 months. YOur return to weight lifting is unpredictable. You may need one full year before performing activities such as the bench press and you may never recover enough to lift heavy weights.

I can tell you I was very concerned when the Jets through Chad into the starting lineup right away (everyone but the Jets knew he wasn't ready to return) , I think Drew is an improvement over Gus, but i don't want to see us throw Drew in right away if he needs to rest his shoulder, even if it means waiting till midseason of next year, do it.

I am guessing we want Drew for Long term not for a 1 year run, and if that is the case, then we need to have a backup that we can EXPECT to start the year as our Starter.

That's insane!!! Saban wants to "upgrade" the QB position. Even if we don't get Brees there are other upgrades available (Culpepper - say what you will about him but he is an upgrade over Gus) or guys who may develop (Ramsey, McCown). Gus will not the starter of this team!!!

Yeah you have a good point, I am blinded a bit by the thought of having a good QB on the Phins, that I forgot about good ol' Chad. I would hate for Brees to turn out like he did and be a QB with bum arms. Especially if we go thro a lot of trouble to get him, but then again his docs know best if he can return in September.

I think we should...Frerotte would come cheap and he really isn't a bad QB. I think sometimes we give the man no credit.
