P/R move to keep the Fans,,,

If Gailey is hired....the tix will be a Hard sell in Miami....
After 12 interviews they must be kidding right?

Well if all you can do is look at his record he doesn't look very appealing.

Chan's record as a head coach:

Year Record Team
1983 7-4 Troy State
1984 12-1 Troy State
1991 5-5 Birmingham Fire (WLAF)
1992 7-2-1 Birmingham Fire (WLAF)
1993 5-6 Samford
1998 10-6 Dallas Cowboys
1999 8-8 Dallas Cowboys
2002 7-6 Georgia Tech
2003 7-6 Georgia Tech
2004 7-5 Georgia Tech
2005 7-5 Georgia Tech
2006 9-5 Georgia Tech

He's basically never been much more than around a .500 coach except for managing 10-6 with the likes of Emmitt Smith, Troy Aikman, and Micheal Irvin on an established team.

I am very disgusted that the best candidate we can find from a large search is Chan Gailey. A guy who was an Offensive Coordinator under Wanny is our BEST option???!!! Please!!! :tantrum:

Au contraire: His record is pretty impressive. With programs like Georgia Tech and Samford you don't go 12-0. Gailey had a winning season each and every year of his Georgia Tech stint and made the playoffs both times as the HC of the Dallas Cowboys. That's not a bad record by any means.

Shula and Marino should've sat in on every candidate that was interviewed. It's not much to choose from when all they have is Gailey and Mora to look at!!!!!

This is likely why we are going with either Mora or Gailey, Gailey coached with Mularkey and Capers at Pittsburgh and Mora says Capers is like a stepfather to him and according to Profootball weekly Huizenga is forcing the coaching staff on the next HC.

We hear the collateral damage left behind by ex-coach Nick Saban is substantial, particularly due to the fact that the Dolphins are on the line for nearly $6.7 million in assistant-coaching salaries in 2007. After allowing Saban to dramatically expand the coaching ranks, including the addition of high-priced assistants like OL coach Hudson Houck, de facto defensive coordinator Dom Capers and offensive coordinator Mike Mularkey, among others, owner Wayne Huizenga may force the team’s new head coach to keep most of the coaches. The reason, however, we’re told, is that Huizenga values many of the assistants rather than being preoccupied by how much they are costing the club. In fact, Miami has made its top assistants off limits from interviewing with or joining other teams during its head-coaching search. If Miami changes its mind, or if the new head coach wants to bring in his own assistants, we hear that there would be great demand for a number of Dolphins coaches, led by the highly respected Houck. And any coaches who would be let go and didn’t find a job elsewhere would get their salary for ’07 paid by the Dolphins, adding to the team’s burgeoning budget.

Huizenga is doing it all wrong again!!! First he hires coaches and gives them total power and that blows up in his face. Then he talks about having a GM make the personnel calls separate from the coach but he FORCES the coaching staff on the next coach who isn't hired yet?? How stupid is that??!!!! Wayne needs to sell the team!!!

Schott said that he didnt feel ready to be the coach and I'll take him at his word but I do suspect that the real reason is all the coaches that we want the new coach to carry. Mora and Gailey seem to be the most likely to allow that

Of course because this is the only team beatting on their doors. They're desperate and would probabally start inflatable dolls on the Oline if Wayne asked them to. They're a couple of spineless POS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yea I read that article too, Armando Salguero has an article this morning saying something different, I dont know man I'm just disappointed with the way this whole thing came down the whole search the world for a HC and the best you come up with is Gailey and Jim Mora?

Here is what Salguero said:

"Gailey and Capers crossed paths as coordinators with the Steelers for the 1994 season and had a good relationship. Mora sees Capers as a father-figure of sorts from the time Capers worked under Mora's father in the USFL and with the New Orleans Saints.
Those combined traits apparently made Schottenheimer realize he was running third in a three-horse field; thus, he removed himself from consideration."

The worst part for me is that it seems that Gailey is the coach we'll hire but he has ties to Mularkey so look for another season from MM

Yep and the reason we are hiring him is because he will work with all the current staff. The writing seems to be on the wall, all this traveling around the world was just an attempt to find a HC that would work with the current staff without having to fire anyone and the only two willing to do it we're Jim Mora and Chan Gailey. I suspect MM is here next year regardless if it's Mora or Gailey.

That's my take too. Well lets hope we find five future Pro Bowlersin the upcoming draft. We're going to need them
