How is Shula saying that he would not take Ricky Williams back?

Shula is agreeing with Saban. Shula is simply saying that even though he wouldn't want too, he would have no choice but to keep Ricky because of what the Dolphins have invested in him.

Saban and Shula both reffer to Ricky as a commodity by using the words "investment" and "value."

While I will agree that Shula is a little more apprehensive than Saban when it comes to Ricky. I don't see how anyone can come to the conclusion that Shula is second guessing Saban.

Shula has forgotten more football than anyone on this board will ever know. So instead of criticizing Shula for stepping on Saban's toes maybe some of you should work on your reading comprehension.

But, Shula really is undermining Saban's credibility here. And quite frankly, I 'm not sure I like it. Shula is a legend, no doubt about it, but he has NO business talkin' about what he would or wouldn't do. Especially when it contradicts what the current regime is doing.....................I know, I know, flame away. :escape:

I think Mr. Shula has earned the right to say whatever the heII he wants. As far as undermining Sabans credibility....after Saban wins a Superbowl after a perfect season you might have a somewhat valid point.

I might not be over my hatred for Wanny but something leads me to believe that if Shula had been the coach, Ricky wouldn't have ran out like he did.

Dont be so sure. Shula was a tough as nails kind of guy. His players often remarked about how Shula would light into them after a game, yelling at them for their mistakes....and that was after games they won. Im not sure Ricky's fragile ego could coexist with Shula's coaching style.

flame away? hehe OK. When Shula speaks i listen!! I thought his opinions were not destructive towards Saban and the organsisation. If anything he gave an honest and 2 way answer. I agree with him. You cant hide what Ricky did under the carpet. we all know what he did but we have big bucks invested in him and THE DON was spot on IMO. His answer was what i wud call "politically correct"

It sounds like Shula would be looking to trade RW as soon as he could. I hope Saban is thinking along the same lines.

The truth hurts. I look at the situation and think that the Dolphins should "cut their losses" not try to recoup on their investment. Quitting is forever. Ricky is a loser. I dont care how talented he may be. Thank God I'm not the coach of this team. He would get his walking papers, rolled up like a big fat Marley.

I think Saban is trying to recoup the Fins investment in some way so I dont see where Shulas opinion is that much different .The difference is that Shula is looking at the situation from outside and Saban has to live with it.

I read that Nub, but if you ask me if Shula was the HC I don't think there's a chance in hell RW would be back.JMHO

Probably ture, but different era, different type of coach, different NFL...
