Don Shula and Bernie Kosar are willing to talk with Wayne Huizenga about joining the Dolphins as the owner's eyes and ears on football matters, but don't expect the position Dan Marino vacated this week to be filled soon.

No, sometimes there can be too many cooks in the kitchen. Let Spielman, Jones and DW do thier jobs.

"''Wayne wants to know exactly who is responsible in case the team doesn't do well again next year,'' the source said. ``He wants to go to one guy and get a read on the kind of job Dave did during the season.

Isn't that Spielmans job?

"He wants to go to the same guy and get a read on how Rick did. Then he can make whatever decisions he needs to make based on that opinion.''

Isn't that Eddie Jone's job?

Besides sounds like they'd be snitches or something like it.

That sure would be alot of power for a yesman.

"Dolphins president Eddie Jones declined to speak about the position Friday but echoed the sentiment that filling the job isn't a priority when asked about the search for candidates.

''What search?'' Jones asked. ``Right now there is no search.''"

Exactly, because this whole Marino hire was a farce to begin with. He was only hired to soften the blow that no one currently outside the team would be brought in to be the new GM, and to sell tickets. One half of Marino's job is already done. The Dolphins are not interested in filling a phantom position with real candidates.

Its pathetic, Wayne thinks football is pure bussiness and its not. It requires the most extreme guidance from a group of experienced men. Clearly in the last 4 years under our current staff, that guidance has not been there. We have some good talent in this team and due to the strategies, game planning and field assesment that our head coach has given, we have literally failed.

Here is the problem guys:

1. Eddie Jones wants to retire.

2. There is no successor to him in the Dolphins organization.

Wayne, as a good businessman, is trying to assure proper succession planning. The best way to do that is to bring someone in before the current person leaves.

Finally, Wayne recognizes that he needs someone with a strong football background. At any given time, Wayne can assess the organization from a business perspective but he does not have the football background to accurately assess the successes and failures of the Dolphins from a football perspective.

On both of these points I think Wayne is on solid ground.
