"You win with good people on and off the field," the 83-year-old Shula told the Herald. "They took a chance on a guy with a bad reputation, and it backfired on them."

The NFL is investigating the troubled relationship between Incognito and teammate Jonathan Martin, who left the Dolphins last week because of emotional issues stemming from alleged harassment and misconduct.

Incognito was suspended last Sunday for conduct detrimental for the team after being identified as one of multiple teammates who harassed Martin, who will discuss the case late next week with a special investigator hired by the NFL. Allegations by the second-year offensive tackle include a malicious physical attack by a teammate.

"It hurts," Shula told the Herald. "You hate to see it happening."

hmm are dolphins homers now going to bash the dolphins legend shula for speaking out on this? would not doubt it.

I think this was directed straight at the Tuna.....Don didn't like it then and now that it's blown up in our face he's pointing fingers.....can't say I blame him....

I was going to post this and see if it drew the typical **** him he is a Dolphin hater response

Shula is always right. And is a man of impeccable character. I'd love to see the franchise's winning percentage with and without Shula.

Bryan Cox was just as embarrassing on the field as Incognito ever was.

Shula has become a hater with an obvious agenda.

Love the Don ... his word is gold to me. I'll still defend Cogs over Martin any day, whether he should have ever been on the team or not, is not an issue to me right now.

Everybody has an opinion. Had martin not been yellow and took his grievances to management, incognito would be playing Monday. Instead martin didn't want to play football anymore so we are where we are at. Almost all of the negative incognito news that has come out in the past week has absolutely nothing to do with the martin situation.

I'm starting to think "agenda" is code word for "what explains why someone's opinion isn't the same as mine."

I support team icog but Shula really didn't draw any lines here other than what guys are reading into it. Icog did have character issues and we did take a chance on him. The media circus the last 2 weeks is proof that it backfired on us. He even right about the second part. It does hurt. I don't really understand where there could be a problem with what the greatest coach in the history of the universe that i would be happy to have a guy that could even have his name mentioned in the same sentance with said.

Why the hell would anyone (no matter how you root for the Dolphins) bash Shula for speaking his mind? He's earned the right to give his opinion on anything Dolphins related and I give him props for speaking up on this situation. I'm surprised he didn't say something about it earlier. I'm not surprised however you would try to stir up crap within Finheaven with the typical hater/homer argument again.
