It's a mindset. A mentality. Every opposing AFC team fan that comes here mentions it. And we prove it. On the field and off it.

"Great fans", or "Real fans" can be realistic, and pessimistic, and critical. But wanting to lose, and adopting a loser mentality has nothing to do with fandom. That is entirely the make up of the human being.

Yes the team is embarrassing. The fans wanting to tank a season for a player who hasn't proven anything is embarrassing. All we can control is now. Today. With 12 games left there is no guarantee we'll even have the pick to acquire him.

I don't care if our fan base looks good. I care if our team can compete for a championship. Does this look like a championship caliber team to you?

Everyone wants a better team so they are all fans.
Roll over and play dead is an option.
The other is to play hard and develop new players for next year.
If we win a few games and don't get the first pick we'll at least be in the bottom 10 and finally get our QB. Just will not be Luck.
I can live with that.
 
to win consistently in this league, we need a great qb.

unless we are going 12-4 and winning it all this year, which lets be real is not happening unfortunately, then we need to suck for luck.

the last thing i want is 6-10 and drafting 6th, 7th overall.

maybe im in the minority, buts for me its luck or bust.

im not going to claim to be a college football expert, but i watch enough games, and although everyone says if not luck, barkley is a good option, i just dont see him translating into anything great in the nfl.

luck or bust.
 
I still don't get what a 7-9 or 8-8 season does for us in the long run... It doesn't have to be Luck, but I do want a franchise QB.

Rolling over and playing dead is not an option for the players. It would be a one way ticket to the unemployment line. They don't sacrifice injury and years of pain and rehabilitation to tank for the fans glee. Sorry.
Yes, Developing new players is a good option. Sage Rosenfels isn't I'd rather Devlin.
I agree, I think we'll be picking in the top 5. Luck is the media darling. But there are other very good QBs still in this draft. (I try and not drink media kool aid about the draft and players, or anything for that matter.)
 
i get enjoyment about getting a victory over the jets or patriots. i guess thats the difference between me and you.

People who want Miami to win a few more games just don't want to get ridiculed in the office by Jets fans on Monday mornings. They'd rather the team pull out 7 wins, save Tony Sparano's job, and continue to stink on ice for three more years than have to deal with the humiliation of someone saying "ahah your football team lost a game" in front of some other coworkers. I guess I can respect that. If my professional and personal lives were so unfulfilling that I had to live vicariously through my favorite sports team, I'd probably root for them to save me about an hour's worth of embarrassment over the course of seventeen weeks, too.

I have friends who claim to be packer fans who don't know d*** about football or the Packers. Fair weather fans who don't know the game are the real clowns who need to be laughed at.

We will get a QB in the 1st round next year and we all just gotta hope and pray its the right man for the job.
