Sick of all the Negativity

The way I see it is... The "Suck for Luck" camp, are true fans because they see that losing now has long term benefits. The "Win now, no matter what" camp, are also true fans because they will go down with their team regardless of next year. There is a commonality to both mindsets. They care for the Dolphins and want to see them win, either now, or down the road. They are fans because they are here now, caring and hoping for the Dolphins to be better than they are now. It's the bandwagon "fans", who should receive the ridicule. They are not the ones with the signs (both good and bad), are not calling the stations, writing blogs or in forums; Are not at the games, or watching them on TV. These guys will come in droves, when the Dolphins win again, and win they will; because every dog has his day. Once we win, we can all point out "where the F*** were you when we were losing?", and laugh at all the haters when our next great QB (Luck, Barkley, Jones), scores touchdowns, after touchdowns for the next 10-15 years! Go 'Fins!
 
I saw this thread title and came in ready to give it a bunch of stars until I realized I landed in Bizarro World where rooting for your team is ostracized and rooting against them for whatever rationalization of a promise, not a reality is lauded. Sheesh.

I have no problem with legitimate fans feeling the way they do and thinking if it's not present pain for future gain then we'll be forever wallowing in mediocrity, I think they're wrong, but I've seen enough posters on here whom I respect and understand suffer as much as I do take this tact that I'm not gonna dog them.

However, it's those who call me short sighted or wrong, or a fan with misplaced priorities because I'm hard wired to root FOR my team not against it, who are the ones with whom I take issue. There's some guy in other threads who's latched on to a talking point that anyone who doesn't understand the concept of putting up with a dark short tunnel for a bright light (supposedly) at its end must not be successful in life. As someone who built and sold a successful service business and presently can likely buy and sell that individual I laugh my *** off at that form-fitting stereotype.

Now as far as wallowing in mediocrity without drafting Luck? There are several other QBs available you know who would go first preemptively if Luck weren't in the mix, are there not? Further, look at the turnaround TB has experiences drafting a QB at the 17th position, hiring an innovative young GM who in turn was smart enough to make an informed decision on a dynamic young HC. Are there any Fin fans around here who wouldn't like to be where the Bucs are now?

We've wallowed in mediocrity because we've entrusted our franchise to either mediocre, unqualified or burned out FO and HCs going back to JJ. That's a cycle that when broken, will create some new paradigms that breed success. If we end up sucking, we'll get Luck, and if you feel that way, more power to you for rooting for that, but don't you dare castigate me as a lifelong fan who actually goes to games and drives home on the turnpike with a heavy hart for doing what comes naturally.

 
I know there are guys on here that are relieved when the Fins lose, but does anyone actually sit at home on Sundays and root for the opposing team? Why not just root for the best team in the league every year? There are plenty of front runners out there whose favorite team changes year to year, so instead of rooting against the Dolphins why don't you just have a different favorite team this year? Loyalty is lost on the whole S4L campaign.

BAND OF BROTHERS all you S4L guys should rent it.

Clearly the struggles of the 101st Airborne in life or death situations during the invasion of Normandy are comparable to a lousy football team being run by a bunch of morons.

Dude the irony is that you're sick of the negativity, but you are rooting for our team to lose. Go think for a few hours.
 
"Suck 4 Luck" isn't so much about embracing failure, but it has more to do with we as fans having to take some seriously nasty medicine, in order for our favorite team to have a much healthier and brighter future than it has since #13 retired.

Loss a season for long term success...

After a decade of failures...I'm on in...

I'm scared that we will win a few games though...
