Sick of all the Negativity

There's already several players headed to the unemployment line. Coaches also.

Given the fact that they are actually trying lends a little insight to exactly how dire the situation at hand really is.

Apparently, you drank the media kool-aid about Ryan Leaf being a "can't miss" prospect, did you not? You made sure you pointed that out in other threads. I know damn well you never saw him play a snap at Washington State.

Luck isn't the media's darling. Scouts have known this kid was a lock pro prospect since he was a freshman. He's the best FOOTBALL PLAYER in the country... not a hype machine driven by stat padding in a gimmick offense.

Talk about drinking the kool aid. As a matter of fact, I'm damn well old enough to have watched him play at Washington State. Stop talking **** and stay on point. If you want to share insults.. find someone else who enjoys being tough behind a keyboard. I thought with a message board everyone is entitled to their opinion? And I watched Peyton at Texas.

Go ahead... enjoy losing. That's your entitlement. Some people never accept losing. No matter what.

There is a greater probability that we can do all this losing and not wind up with Luck. You guys act like the check has already been cashed.

Fortunately, or unfortunately, the players in the locker room are well aware of the suck for luck campaign. I doubt they are going to lie down for you.

It's not going to make any difference whether the players lay down or not.... that's the point.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and we're debating yours, remember?

I saw this thread title and came in ready to give it a bunch of stars until I realized I landed in Bizarro World where rooting for your team is ostracized and rooting against them for whatever rationalization of a promise, not a reality is lauded. Sheesh.

I have no problem with legitimate fans feeling the way they do and thinking if it's not present pain for future gain then we'll be forever wallowing in mediocrity, I think they're wrong, but I've seen enough posters on here whom I respect and understand suffer as much as I do take this tact that I'm not gonna dog them.

However, it's those who call me short sighted or wrong, or a fan with misplaced priorities because I'm hard wired to root FOR my team not against it, who are the ones with whom I take issue. There's some guy in other threads who's latched on to a talking point that anyone who doesn't understand the concept of putting up with a dark short tunnel for a bright light (supposedly) at its end must not be successful in life. As someone who built and sold a successful service business and presently can likely buy and sell that individual I laugh my *** off at that form-fitting stereotype.

Now as far as wallowing in mediocrity without drafting Luck? There are several other QBs available you know who would go first preemptively if Luck weren't in the mix, are there not? Further, look at the turnaround TB has experiences drafting a QB at the 17th position, hiring an innovative young GM who in turn was smart enough to make an informed decision on a dynamic young HC. Are there any Fin fans around here who wouldn't like to be where the Bucs are now?

We've wallowed in mediocrity because we've entrusted our franchise to either mediocre, unqualified or burned out FO and HCs going back to JJ. That's a cycle that when broken, will create some new paradigms that breed success. If we end up sucking, we'll get Luck, and if you feel that way, more power to you for rooting for that, but don't you dare castigate me as a lifelong fan who actually goes to games and drives home on the turnpike with a heavy hart for doing what comes naturally.

no there are not...the only other qb who would in most years be worthy of #1 overall pick is barkley...i can see someone in the top 10 this year going with jones given how much of a premium the position is but imo at least he's a late 1st early 2nd round guy

barkley most years is worthy of the top pick...if luck wasn't in this draft i'd have no problem taking barkley #1

I'm not quite sure if people think were bad enough to finish last or if the S4L guys actually think the team is going to throw games. Finishing last on our own is the much more likely scenario, although I don't think that will happen either. Anyone naive enough to think the players and coaches will actually throw games to get the number one pick is kidding themselves.

Consider the scenario, Ross tells Sparano he wants them to lose the rest of their games. Sparano knows hes gone after this year, so what would prevent him from going to the media? He would never get another job anywhere if he is caught throwing games, so he would be saving his own neck ratting out Ross. Same would go for any player caught throwing games. The punishment would be severe if any coach, player and/or owner is caught cheating in this manner. This simply will not happen, so I am sorry to burst any bubbles but you can all but rule out the team throwing games to get Luck.

I am not on the S4L bandwagon, but I won't deny the fact that landing Luck is probably the best thing for the organization. I think the argument here should not be S4L, but what we are going to trade to get him if the organization is serious about winning. My honest opinion is the only way we land Luck is if we trade into the #1 spot.
