It seems that sports reporting has taken such a dive over the last 5 years. It's not about the games itself anymore, the writers want to be recognized for stirring the pot and being controversial.

"I am not sure at what point the 1972 Miami Dolphins went from perfect champions to perfectly annoying, but it might have been during one of Mercury Morris' blowhard television appearances."

OK, I am going to find this guy's email address so we can email him to let him know how annoying he is!!!

I sent him an email...you are right, he IS a jack#^%...

If he held a record, I'm sure he'd be hoping someone else would come break it.

Email to Dan

Dan,

It is you that I find a blowhard!

Going for a record instead of a Super Bowl victory because "you" are sick of the "old guys" hoping to retain their record delineates absolute stupidity.

I'm sure you don't hope to be the first or only one to break a big story either.

Dan, be original, go beat the bushes for an original story instead of jumping on one that has been used for the past 33 years!

Dungy should keep the Broncos in mind. They had home field wrapped up once, took a game off and played backups, and never refound the spark to win the Superbowl. I think it took them a year or two to get in the same shape again, then they choose to not take the game off and Won the Superbowl. Dungy should go for the record, because it will help them win the superbowl. DON'T PRACTICE NOT BEING YOURSELF RIGHT BEFORE THE PLAYOFFS.

Hey everyone! I have been coming here for a while now, but this is the first time i've decided to post. I wanted to share with all of you the response I sent to Wetzel. Enjoy.

I have just read your report about the '72 Dolphins, and I can't seem to get over how idiotic that article made you sound. My 9 year old son doesn't whine and complain as much in a day as you did in a couple of paragraphs. I am a U.S. Marine, so I know you have the right to your opinion, but learn something I learned a long time ago as a young Marine.....RESPECT and DIGNITY. From your article it appears you have neither.

:0wned:

Seriously how could you not want a record that you worked very hard on not wanting to be broken??? If I had teh Home Run Record I would surely not wanting anyone breaking it.

Because if you think about it if the Colts go undefeated the 72 Phinz will be pushed aside on the notion that they played weaker teams, they wernt as physiclly powerfull as teams r today. Total Bull crap :yell:

He fails to mention the source of all this '72 hype..............the media! They are the ones constantly bringing it up and the ones giving Morris his blowhard tv interviews. What a tool!!!!!!!!! BTW I never saw any of Morris' interviews. What was wrong with them (if anything)?

The whole '72 issue is blown WAY outta proportion by media "guru's" such as Jim Rome & guys like Wetzel(sp?)...I've heard countless guys from '72 say that they would be happy for Indy or any team that could go undefeated. They even say that it is much more difficult since the teams would have to win 2 more games.

Just chalk it up to these bozos having to find something to talk/write about.

Dvus, Sempre FI

Thank you for serving, and welcome to Finheaven!

Wetzel's son is probably a Dolphan and is sick of him stomping on his (Wetzel) Jets!

Here's mine:

What a waste of cyberspace this article is. You couldn't find anything meaningful to write about? Why bash the only team with a perfect season in the history of pro sports? It is an achievement that the team, the organization and the fans take great pride in. In the future, before you sit down and start typing away at your keyboard you should ask youself: "Is there any merit in what I am about to do?"

Actually I think it would be funny if the Colts went all the way to the SB and lost it. They'd be known as the only 18-1 team to not win the SB.

And if anyone wanted to bring up the fact that they went undefeated in the regular season it wouldn't mean jack if they lost the Superbowl.

I mean think of all the media and Colts fans talking about the greatness of the Colts and then BAM!!!!! They get knocked off by the Seahawks, Falcons or Giants.
Even if they lost in the playoffs they'd be the only one loss team not to make or win the SB.

Jeez I wanna be in sports journalism when i go to college and my future career, Im havin serious doubt now.... :D
