haha, you guys are so ridiculous, didn't I say "what if" before my last post? What makes you think that's the way I feel? I stated before that I was rooting for Denver to win, mostly because I hate Pittsburgh. I'm just saying there's another side to the coin about the religious right and their zealotry that scares the crap out of "normal" Americans. Most Americans don't want people telling them how to behave or what's right or wrong and feel they can decide for themselves. ( like gay marriage, abortion , etc...)
Tebow played a great game, but I still don't think having one good game means he will be a great QB. ( or even a decent one) I could be wrong and Tebow will be the next Bart Starr or whoever, I've seen it before. Was Zach Thomas supposed to make it in the NFL? He had a HoF caliber career when you look at it. I just don't think if he succeeds or fails it will be determined if God likes him or not, that's all. I think it will be determined by how much he practices, how much he's willing to adapt, determination , and natural talent. God is going to single him out, because he went to a third world country, for success, really? Or because he's Christian? Really?
I feel that I'm very tolerant, almost to a fault. I am agnostic but I leave room for the fact that I could be wrong about everything. In fact I believe that we know very little of about what reality is all about. Hence, my main problem with any religion is the fact that we are all very clueless about the afterlife, good and evil, etc. . . The claim that they "know" is what I can't accept, especially when many parts in the Bible, (like in the Old Testament) there are many times where certain protagonists claim exactly what I'm saying. They don't know the will of God or even what it/he/she is. ( or even what happens after you die)
I had to send my children to a Christian pre-school and it worried me at first but in the end, I'll have enough time to educate them. I want my kids to fear ignorance and complacency, not God. To each their own, may your kids grow up healthy and successful in their endeavors whatever their faith.
I'm just trying to give reasons why the religious stuff pisses people off so much. Ten years ago i really would've hated Tebow, but I've matured over the years and I realized I was taking myself way to seriously. I wont lie, the religious stuff does turn me off, I could never "love" him as a player or look up to him because he stands for many things I don't. If I had his same platform, I would say things exactly opposite to what he says. I would say things like think for yourself, you have ultimate responsibility for your actions, hence the need to be educated. ( so you don't do stupid things) Tebow does great things for people but is it God doing it or Tebow? I personally am glad that Tebow helps poor people and those that are sick, but I just hate that theirs always those religious strings attached. Can't it just be human compassion for each other?
I would never "hate" anyone for their religious belief. I'm not them, and they may have very legitimate reasons to "believe". People will make their own decisions in the end, so it is what it is. Did Muhammad Ali sway millions to Allah? Thousands? How many stayed with it if they did? How many regretted converting? Anyways, I hope he makes it to the Super Bowl, it would be the greatest underdog story in a long time. (with or with out God's help)
