If we end up signing Jake Scott we will then be able to focus on skill players for the draft, QB/WR/TE/OLB, we wont have to waste a pick on another offensive lineman, I would be very happy with this offensive line:

LT-Long, LG-Incognito, C-Pouncey, LG-Scott, RT-Murtha, we would then have jerry, cook, hicks, and garner for solid depth

Sounds like a plan...this isn't a "bad" team. If philbin.is a good coach,we will have a winning record this year.oh and he gets that Matt Moore fella to play to his potential

Any word if Fins offer a contract to Scott?

We need a guard in the worst way. Signing Scott and letting Jerry and Murtha battle it out at RT wouldn't be so bad, but even if we do sign a RG we still need an upgrade at LG and RT IMO. Hopefully I'm wrong and one of those 2 younger guys pan at RT, but I'm not a big fan of Incognito.

If Miami flat out ignored their need at RG just to save $5,000,000 a year I'm ****ing through with Ireland. I'm sorry, but passing on Eric Winston for the price was ridiculous considering he fell into our laps.

Honestly, why haven't we restructured Jake Long to make room for him? WHY? Theres NO REASON unless they don't plan on keeping Long after this season

The people that are on here going " I don't care about the $5m, sign him already" are the same guys who go "we can't use FA to buy any stud players because idiot Jeff Ireland used up all his cap space on mediocre players".

You can't have it both ways. Solid guys like Scott have a value and if you pay it you're significantly adding to the wage bill with another decent talent. The FO seems to be trying to cut some of the dead wood out of the cap (sorry Yeremiah!) and I don't think we're going to be operating at 90-100% of our cap limit from now on. I can see us getting the numbers down by building through the draft and weaning ourselves off that middle tier of capable but relatively expensive FA players.

I'm not saying we shouldn't sign Scott. I'm just saying that you can't have your cake and eat it too. My guess is he prices himself out of our budget and moves on to the next suitor.

Jake's coming off season ending surgery/injury so there is no rush to restructure his contract now just to free up cap it can be done in other areas if needed.

I don't understand it either.

OK Winston who would have solidified our RT position for 4 years signed with KC. He was considered the best RT in the NFL or one of the best. His Brother works for the phins. If we did not sign Winston for 5.5 M a year there is no way in hell we will sign jake the guard for 5 m a year. Not even close.
