Sign Of Optimism

I agree - I'm optimistic enough to hope for a 8-8 or 9-7 season, which we can build off of to make a playoff run the following season.

If everyone on offense stays healthy, we'll be decent enough. It will be a run-first offense that will be bolstered by a stronger O-line and a healthy Ronnie and Ricky Express. This will hopefully keep the pressure off of Beck as he develops or keep the pressure off of McCown so he doesn't get INT-happy. Special teams play should be good enough to get us better field position and the occasional big play.

The Giants showed the secondary doesn't have to be elite as long as there's a strong pass rush. Let's hope all the linebackers we've gotten and are looking to get apply a strong enough pass rush to keep Allen/Lehan/Daniels from looking like clowns. Y. Bell staying healthy is a huge key for the secondary. I'm personally worried whether the MLBs (Crowder & Torbor?) in particular can make the tackles they need to to stop the run. If we get run on like we did last season....

Not to mention whats looks to be an exciting, play making LB corpse. Porter, Torbor, Crowder, JT/Long? I like it. Every other position is wait and see, but I love where we're at with or OL(if we draft a first day tackle), RBs, LBs. I agree i'm starting to feel pretty optimistic about 08 already. Maybe not playoff optimistic (yet.) But getting to at least
.500 seems like a realstic goal.

If we have a QB and Ronnie runs like he was last season before the injury I think we will do well. Having to rely on Ricky worries me and obviously poor QB play will hinder our progress.

I personally believe we will have a team next year competing in the top half of the NFL. We lost six games last year by three points! We are going to have Ricky Williams back along with Ronnie Brown and Lorenzo Booker and if we select J. Long in the draft that will automatically improve our offensive line allowing R. Williams, R. Brown and L. Booker room to run. I think we are going to have a great running game next year if we select J. Long. Not to mention if we improve our offensive line by selecting J. Long that gives John Beck more time in the pocket. And with this we brought in supposedly “special team experts†so we are defiantly going to improve with our field position. The only area that I do see being a huge problem is our secondary which is terrible.

Well, the coach said after watching extensive amount of game tape, he has realized the secondary is not as bad as it looked. I think if we can get pressure this year with the front seven, than the secondary will play a lot better!!

Jake this and Jake that hehehehehe! Yet I do agree he should be our pick!

I dont share your blind faith in this team. Defense is still lacking and our oline has proved nothing, neither have our qb's. Our wide receivers are in question whether they would be starters for other teams in the league. We also have no tight end.

It could be a very long year. Will we be better? I cant see us being worse than last year. But not much better either!

We wont be a playoff team for 2 to 3 years if we draft right. Draft wrong and we are screwed. I so hope I am wrong, I just dont see a good team here!

Optimism doesn't win games, talent does.

Right now this team isn't talented enough to be 500. Thats just a sad fact. Perhaps if they didn't have to suffer through playing the Patriots twice, and top tier teams in the AFC such as the Chargers. The Bills and Jets are better than us so the best we can hope for really is a split.

The good news is the Dolphins seldom seem to "quit" they always play close games, and most of their games end up being winnable. I just dont think they've done enough to reverse that "winnable situation" into an actual win. Perhaps Jake Long will help us as Thomas helped the Browns, or perhaps another draft pick will step in and make plays and help us surprise people. But right now i dont see it, and i have a right to be pessimistic this team has done nothing to merit optimism in many years.

RAH RAH RAH!!! Not going to happen. This team isn't anywhere close to have talent to win more than 3 games. How is this team going to score? Great special teams play?

I think everyone needs to stop using the "We lost 6 games by 3 points or less last year" excuse. So what does that mean, that karma will be on the Dolphin's side this year and we'll win 6 games by 3 points or less?

Even if the odds worked out for the Fish last year, they would have won 3 out of 6 of those close games, and we still would have been the worst team in the NFL.

i think ricky is gonna have an awesome season because this is his last season under contract and he will have to show everyone that he still has it

Personally, I've got them down for 5 wins.. however I don't believe it's Karma per se that needs to go our way. I think with a full complement of healthy contributors, better coaching decisions and Booker being a factor earlier on in the season, splitting those 6 games would have been feasible..which would have put us at 4 wins. With the cast we're assembling, the FO philosophies, upgrade of special teams play, and a reemphasis on proper conditioning, I think we can add a game or two beyond that. A .500 team probably not, but IMO, 5 or 6 wins is well within the realm of possibilties.
