We need to sign this kid. He would step into our system and flourish into a very very good player. He has the best years ahead of him because he is only 25 years old, and last season with the Panthers was very productive. Julian Peterson and LaVar Arrington would be everybody's choice, but Witherspoon wouldn't cost near as much and will be just as productive on the field next season. We are in need of an OLB, and he is the type of guy I would love to see the Fins sign. Big time player in the coming seasons!

i just said the exact thing in another tread he could be a sleeper free agent who would help make us younge on d and put us over the top

No, he wouldnt step into our system and flourish because just about the only place he could play in the Dolphins defense is Strong Safety.

Miami needs a 6'1" 230 pound linebacker like Nick Saban needs a third nipple.

would love to get this guy...deff has potential to be great and would look awesome next to ZT and Channing

Yup. That is correct^.

No he cant.

The only position he could potentially play for Miami is the one that Zach Thomas is currently at.

A 230 pound coverage OLB is NOT going to fly.

Yea thats why he played OLB for the Panthers last year and did a damn good job of it. HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

Besides Channing Crowder weighs what? 245 and Donnie Spragan weighs what? 242.

230lbs cant play OLB? Interesting... do you know anything about football man? The guy is a player thats all that needs to be said.

I'll bet he gets a bigger contract than Peterson. He's a 25-year old All-Pro.

That said, the "knock" on him, as Len Pasquarelli points out, is that he has to play in space. If this were Dave Wannstedt's 4-3 team, we'd be looking hard at Witherspoon.

But this is Nick Saban's team. And he likes his LBs to be able to get thru the garbage without depending on the DL to always keep them clean. That means bigger athletes.

How many 230-pound LBs did we sign last year??

Heck, Nick Saban said JT would be a Hall of Fame linebacker had he been in the 3-4 his entire career. That's a big linebacker.

Witherspoon will continue to be a great linebacker in this league. Just not in Miami. Minnesota, with all their cap room and big boys inside, need to make a run at him.

on espn radio they were saying hes really the only young stud linebacker that both him and hope would prosper in a new system
