It is farily well known that most teams main goal in their final pre-season game is to not get anyone hurt, and maybe to figure out the bottom end of the final depth charts. Most teams only play starters a series or two, tops. Miami, however, has several unanswered questions. Who will be starting QB week 1? Is Ronnie Brown ready to start week 1? What will be the starting defensive backfield? What will be the starting OL?

I don't blame Saban in any way for any of this. I think it is a very unique situtation, much of which is caused by Gus not hitting one or two of those deep balls last weekend. I compare what Saban is going to through at the QB spot to what I go through when I drive through McDonalds. Nothing is too appealing, so you do your best to pick the one that has the least chance at really sucking.

That said, how long do you all think some of these guys will play tomorrow night?

I think your premise is correct. There are too many unsettled situations left to resolve yet.

Its not an ideal situation going into a season.Unfortunately it may take a few regular season games to find out the answers but I am positive that we are heading in the right direction.

Not long for the 1st teamers, it would be a mistake to risk injury after 5 ps games get to get the sense of the final pieces, they've had all TC to do that, it's time to go with gut on some of the positions and ride it out.

I think you may see Frerotte and Feeley play about three series each. A little longer than usual for the final preseason game but I think he needs to see some more of each. Hopefully, Feeley gets to go first against Atlanta's first string D. I imagine Sage will play about 2.5 quarters since Berlin is gone and no other QB to speak of.

I would expect to see a lot of Morris, Gordon, Minor, and Brown. Ricky has established that he is back. Ronnie needs more experience and the others are fighting for a job.

Derrius Thompson, Maurice Mann and Josh Davis should get quite a bit of time as well. I think they all have a slight chance of making a roster spot for themselves and if any of the three have a good game, they might just push themselvesonto the roster.

Expect to see a lot of Vickerson, Wright and Shaw on the DL. Carter, Holliday, Zgonina, and Traylor are pretyt much locks up front. There is probably only room for two more spot for those three. Saban may keep all three but somehow I think Shaw is going to have to play lights out to make the roster.

Bua needs a big game, as does Kris Richard, Mario Edwards and Jack Hunt. Out of those four, i expect one or two tops to make it past final cuts.

Stockar McDougle, Taylor Whitley, John St. Clair and Alonzo Ephraim need big games to to stay on the roster. I think Stockar most likely makes the team as does Whitley, but the other two are borderline. Eprhaim has done adequate but McKinney and Hadnot are easily ahead of him and I doubt we keep three centers.

Keep your eye on the backup TE battle too. Donald Lee, Lorenzo Diamond, Alex Holmes and the new guy Owens will get tons of looks and probably have the QB under orders to get them the ball to see what they can do. I think Saban wants to keep Lee but he keeps shooting himself in the foot. Hopefully this game sorts it out.

Those are probably the big battles to watch. I think the LB/DE situation has pretty much sorted itself out as well as the starting o-line and top of the rb charts. Also, the WR's are pretty much set. Welker, Chambers, Boston, Booker and Gilmore should be our fiv.e Maybe we carry a sixth if one of the above plays lights out.

aside from ronnie brown and the QB (whoever it is that starts), the starters will probably play a full qrt. if that much.

Saban should've alternated QBs every preseason game up till now. Gus didnt show that he derved the second straight start. I would be weriously surprised if Feeley didnt get the work with the first unit this week.

But really..I believe Saban already know what the make up of this team will be....

A strong organized showing by the offensive line is all i'm looking for. Everything else will fall into place

i actually thought the Oline players pretty good against the Bucs. Now the QBs have to use the time to make "quality" decisions.

i want to see one of these QBS play with fire and attitude!

How about strong play from one or both of our QBs? The line is important, but if they're blocking their rears off for a dud under center, we're in trouble.

The main issue is the QB situation, i'm looking forward in seeing both play a whole quarter or even more and hope our o-line plays well, the d-back situation is pretty well resolved IMO, madison, howard, with daniels having a lot of playing time, tebucky and bell should be the starters.

Man, i really believe when the line comes together, and i say when, not if. We will become alot less dependent on QB play. The play action passing game will be a big threat for us. You will see opposing D's stacking the line trying to stop RB and RW, will be able to kill them down the field. We definetley have the weapons and throw will not be as tough. I mean who are you goint to double cover Boston, Chambers, Mcmike? That'll be tough with eight in the box.
