Anyone have any updates on draft pick signings? It always puzzles me why these take so long. The draft is in April - why wait? You know what last year's picks got and what the new draft cap # is - what's the holdup? You only have so many days of camp - why wait until the last minute - Philly does a good job every year of getting guys signed early - looks like we only have 2 and we haven't even started with Allen or Hagan. Any news on if they will be in camp ON TIME??

Well as of now we have toledo and devin signed to 4 year deals, and fred evans and rod wright are probably next and Hagan and Allen are expected to sign by friday.

I believe that we have fred evans and Rod wright basically signed up just not officially realesed. Allens negotions should heat up soon and i think if hes not signed by wednesday we'll atleast get an update as to where they are in the talks. Hagan is someone i still haven't heard anything about as far as contract talks go. IMO they'll all be there for the start of camp.

Frugal owners always tend to wait til the last minute. Keeps that money in their bank drawing interest for as long as possible. Not sure what a 5 million signing bonus draws for interest but I but a normal person could live off of it nicely.

It is a better bargaining position as far as the players are concerned to wait until right before camp. This is why no players typically sign early.

Kamerion Wimbley signed today, only 30 more 1st round picks left to sign! Sadly, the Chargers have not signed anyone yet...

this happens every year, this week will be when about 75% of the draft picks sign, and then u will have a few holdouts who will stretch it into the preseason, nothing unusual.

its always about what one side feels value is and what the other side sees their value. Its basically a difference in interests. Its all good and this is the buisness part of the game. Its not the prettiest part of the game but its an essential part because if it wasn't for the money these guys are making the game wouldn't be a competitive as it is because everyone wants a bigger pay day than their counterparts.

Agree this is what happens - it just seems ridiculous to wait. Why? I referenced the Eagles who have signed guys early. Why wait until the day camp opens. It's not like these salaries are being pulled out of the air. They are slotted year after year with pretty standard increases. I can't see how you are not within range from the very first proposal so why not start early. Camp opens Friday and for Allen to not have started yet or be far along is ridiculous. Ronnie missed 3 weeks and that set him back alot. I hope Wayne steps in and forces the issue.

allen should be in by the end of this week.....as well as the others....i wonder what reggie bush will do

I'm not sure they make a helmet big enough for how big his head appears to have gotten. He tried to play hard ball with Houston and I'm glad they said see ya later. NO did not need another RB with Deuce there. He could have been in a great situation with a team up and coming like I think Houston will be. NO is going nowhere. Hope he enjoys his money. I predict he will be the last 1st rd pick to sign

I think it's standard practice for all the teams to see how the rookies do during the mini camps and then work on their contracts after the vacation period. Why wouldn't you bring a player in and get a good first hand look at him for free

Wayne said he didn't want any of the holdout BS we went through with Ronnie. From the report on the main page I don't see Wayne being stingy or generous just fair and if the want to hold out I would send them on their way.

Agreed as it relates to signing bonuses, however salaries as I understand it do not count until regular season rolls around. I'm not suggesting sign a guy May 1st, but when camp opens July 28th and you haven't signed a guy yet as of July 24th I think that is ridiculous. If you don't know the guys value by then you should be in another job. Why can the Eagles get guys signed and other teams don't? Lazy - other priorities? Seems this should be a priority!
