Silver: philbin and Ireland *NOT* expected to survive

And the other half would be saying Schiano can't be held accountable for the team's performance because of the MRSA.

So the point...coaches are to be held responsible for their performance.

I have thought this also. How attractive is Miami really going to be to candidates?

We don't need retirees running a team as a hobby. Been through that with Parcells and Jimmy Johnson.

Once the employees of the Dolphins facility/organization started coming out about Ireland, it's a good guess it finally sealed his fate. He needs to go, you can't have a guy as GM as socially inept as this turd is. I was in Ireland's corner up until the 4 game losing streak, this whole bullying fiasco just added to my disdain for the man. He has no business as a GM. Other than his ability to work with Aponte on the cap situation he's been very questionable. I recently read an article in Forbes Magazine about the GM's in the NFL and they had Ireland with a 7 rating which was below the 8 benchmark they used to judge NFL GM's. I'm entirely convinced now he's gone.

Coaches...not very
Players....depends on record. Still had cap space, winning team, young team.... Could all be appealing. As long as they treat their players well. I don't think a single player in this league is looking at the Fins and thinking they caused distress to Martin. They are watching to see how they handle the other 52.

I think fire Ireland is the first step. Then a big decision needs to be made. You either have Philbin very involved in the process of finding a new GM and those 2 are tied at the hip. Give Philbin and his GM 2 years to take us to at least Round 2 of playoffs. Option 2 is you fire Philbin and Ireland right away. If that happens, you either have Ross hire a GM who will then hire a coach OR you hire a big name coach who has all the power (Gruden, Cowher, etc.).

Then, some in each half, would be pining away (like a 12 yr old girl reading Tiger beat) for Gruden or Cowher to ride in a white horse & restore credibility.

That most the most preposterous combination of drivel I have ever heard. Good grief! I think it's time to let Ireland go also

HOWEVER....I'm not going to be that ignorant and let Forbes magazine decide the fate of the Dolphins. Are some of you guys here actual real fans????

I would be ecstatic with Ireland being fired. I would feel bad for Joe if he loses his job over this but it would be better for the Dolphins if he does. His coaching style and offensive philosophy won't win us anything. A total steam cleaning of this organization might be a good thing.

Starting over, again, is the answer?

Ireland still has [STRIKE]fans[/STRIKE] a fan?

This op is a blame the fans always guy.

Eventually a group is bound to win.

Ireland sucks as we all know. Philbin can't coach to save his life.

And Schiano deserves to be fired. 0-8 = fired. If half of the people on this board were Bucs fans instead they would be blaming him for mrsa and want him fired for that.

He is getting fired...At the end of the year.

Why fire a coach now? Let him get you 0-16 and the number 1 overall pick. That's a big win.

Well, it is a young team with a young promising QB and a very good cap situation. I think it is very attractive IMO.
