If Ross hires a QUALITY G.M. Philbin is gone. That GM will want his own H.C.

Ireland is gone and a new GM will want his own guy at head coach. I am curious to see what this all means for Tannehill.

New GM = New head coach (which usually means new QB).

Here's a great video of Shannon Sharpe talking it about it and he puts it nicely into perspective, the fact Jonathan Martin lost his starting position and moved to the right side, bringing in a new player, etc.

I think many people out there are overreacting to this story and throwing stones from the sidelines.

Neither coach deserves termination for one players ridiculous allegations and undermining the entire team in the process, because he lost his starting position at left tackle.

I dont think his movement to rt meant that much because why not act fool last week. McKinnie cannot play any other position and last I checked Clabo was the one benched

Perhaps, look I don't think playing in the NFL is everything that its cracked up to be, the fear of being cut, injured, the beating your body takes, its just not for everyone.

Some players love it and others don't, he may have just quit because he didn't like it.

It would be like a boxer alleging he was being used by a rich man, for entertaining purposes, and then the boxer turns around and sues the world of boxing for taking advantage of him.

In other words, maybe Jonathan Martin felt like he was being used and didn't like the atmosphere and just flat out quit.

The whole story line is so bizarre , remember all we heard was, he got mad during lunch, started yelling and smashed or broke his tray.

I guess we'll have to hear Martin speak for himself and not through his lawyer.

I agree Jeff goes down with the ship. Philbin is no nonsense so I truly believe he was not in the loop, BUT I do not think he is head coach material. His staff is mainly colleges coaches who are in over their heads and thus if the regime is changed than so be it.

I really don't see Ireland getting fired. Ross has been happy enough with him and the recent contract extension shows that. If Martin doesn't walk out on his team we aren't even talking about this. Ireland is doing it his way and not Parcell's way and it hasn't been that long its been 100% Ireland calling the shots without Parcells. He's improving as GM and the trade up for Dion Jordan was solid.
This offense might be a lot different if Dustin Keller doesn't get hurt.

I would like to think the assessment of Ireland is that simple, however there are clear holes on this team that have cost us multiple games and put us in a very precarious 4-4 in a high-level-of-parity NFL, and quite frankly, that record could very well be worse if we didn't luck out with our 3-0 start. Tannehill is the most-sacked QB in the league, has committed an insane amount of turnovers, most not necessarily his fault but because he's not getting protection. Ireland has taken little care of character in building the o-line, with McKinnie, Pouncey, and Incognito leading the charge. Yes, Martin should have been a man around these men, but Ireland should have planned this better, done some homework on team chemistry and conflicting personalities. I'm not saying Ireland should have been a psychic and knew this mess would all go down with Martin, but he should have put intangibles as a higher priority for Philbin's team. This is also the guy who brought in Ocho-Cinco when we were in desperate need of a productive WR. That didn't last long. Again, nobody can be a psychic, but you have to assess risks like that.

The jury's still out on Mike Wallace, but I don't think he's a great fit for this team. Tannehill needs a guy who runs consistent routes. Wallace's speed is great and has always been that missing link to our O, but his wacky play forces Tannehill to have to work harder to get the ball to the guy, especially with a bad O-Line not giving him a lot of time. Hindsight is 20/20, but looking back, I think if we drafted Tavon Austin, got Gibson, kept Hartline, and maybe even keep/get Greg Camarillo from long ago, would have been the way to go, and give Tannehill a lot of speed and talent to work with.

Trading up for Dion Jordan was a great move, but, I don't think that's really paying major dividends for us at the moment (jury's obviously still out on him though, as he does make some terrific plays). Vernon and Misi see the field more than he ever does. Plus the fact that it was known he was injured, I dunno, hindsight 20/20 I would rather us get a OL, WR, or CB in round 1, and get a DE/LB in round 2.

Cammarillo was traded for Benny Sapp who I think was cut pretty quickly after the secondary getting torched by the pats a few years ago. Cammarillo ran terrific routes but not having the speed (as the case with Bess) that this coaching staff would like.
I see Dion Jordan not paying the dividends right away but if we knew Jason Taylor would be the player he was, I'm sure the phins wouldn't have waited till the 3rd round to get him? I didn't have high expectations for Jordan but have been happy with what he has done considering it is his rookie year regardless of injuries. Vernon was brought here with the idea that we need more help in getting sacks. Misi and Vernon are not awful and not great, more salary cap friendly players in my opinion as the way Morlon Greenwood was 12 yrs ago.
I think its a bit of a reach trying to consider if Martins personality would conflict with other teammates? Good character, great work ethic, and a true love of the game of football (think Z. Thomas & Jason Taylor). I'm more worried about the ghetto kid who comes into some "big money" as an NFL player with possible gang ties than a more well rounded Stanford kid who has been challenged academically and athletically. As a side note, I never had any issue with Ireland ever asking Dez Bryant if is mother was a prostitute, so many ways to ask that question and it was common knowledge that his mother was a prostitute and his father was her pimp. It was Ireland getting to know him and asking about his upbringing.
