Hello guys. Once again, I, Silverphin, is back with another column. Usually, I would of done this tomorrow or Monday. However, tomorrows my birthday (:woot:), and the day after is my first day of school (:woot: :woot:). And I'm happpy, our 'Phins won against the Tampa Bay Bucanneers. (:woot: :woot: :woot:). Which means my B-Day will be great, and The Suicide Hotline saw a sharp decline of calls tonight.

Thank you, Tampa Bay

Thank you, Tampa Bay. Because of you and sacks and pressure, Daunte was able to shake the cob webs and peice together one heck of a drive. Daunte was looking shaky at first. But Bob Griese was right. All Daunte need was a little help from Tampa's defense. After the sack, Daunte's Inferno ignited. My only complaint about the drive was that I wasn't able to see the roll :nono:

First unit does it again

The first unit (rotational players included), dominated again, geting two sacks. David Bowens, in particular, looked a lot more vicious, if that's even possible. Our front seven was able to cause the offense to go three and out.

Two Lions unleashed

Joey Harrington and Dan "Big Daddy" Wilkinson is probably making Matt Millen regret letting them go. Joey Harrington looked calm. He rarely had happy feet, if at all. He threw completed eight of 15 passes for 81 yards. (From what I saw, one of the passes were off the finger tips of Rader, one was incomplete due to a miscommunication with Marcus Vick, and Cliff Russel was a step too slow on another one).

Dan "Big Daddy" Wilkinson was simply dominating. He was able to rack up three tackles and 1.5 sacks (On his solo sack, he viciously threw down Chris Simms). I must say, I was surprised, but in a good way.

Eyeshield 23

Ronnie rushed seven times for 32 yards on 4.6 yards per carry. He also caught two passes from Culpepper for 29 yards, the third highest receiving yards on the night for the 'Phins.

(Oh, if you're wondering about the Eyeshield 23 title: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eyeshield_21)

Have no fear....

FB/CBF (Comic Book Fanatic) Darian Barnes has a mutant power: maximum ownage. He destroyed a linebacker while blocking for Sammy Morris on an eight (nine?) yard gain. While he wasn't used for receiving, I'm pretty sure he doesn't mind one bit destroying opposing defenders.

Ain't fit to back up Ronnie, am I?!

Sammy Morris continues to show what he is capable of doing with the ball in his hands. He for 22 yards, 4.2 yards per carry, and practically somersaulted into the endzone. Little by little, I'm starting to feel a whole lot better about our backup tailback position.

The standouts

Former NFLEL standout and 2005 Practice Squad member Jason Rader has made a case as to why he deserves to be on this team. Sure, he had one ball off his finger tips. But for the most part, he has shown he has hands and can get open when he needs to. This year, I had a feeling Jason Rader will give a strong showing. And I wasn't disappointed, because he had the most receiving yards on the night for the 'Phins with 37 yards.

Behind Rader in reception yards is 2005 (Pittsburgh) Fourth Round Draft Pick Fred Gibson with 33 yards. One of his main complaints from last year is his fear of taking a hit. He took a lick and still held on for a catch. The former Bulldog is showing the instincts and head for the game. Look like this Bulldog is backing up his bark.

Derek Hagan was thrown to more, and he caught three passes for 20 yards, making him fourth on the list tonight. His problem is that he has a Chambers' complex. He'll drop some easy ones, but more often than not, he'll catch the tough ones.

Plays of the game

Former LSU safety Jack Hunt was able to grab a pick off of a deflection off of Bucs' Receiver Hilliard. Gradkowski threw the pass towards Hilliard's direction despite the back he was well covered by NFLEL star safety Sideeq Shabazz, which turned out to be a bad decision.

Earlier that night, Deke Cooper, playing his safety position just right, intercepting a floating pass.

Interesting observations

Nick Saban chewed out Jason Allen after a blown assignment. Allen looked equally ticked off at himself as well, with a towel over his head. Saban then went over and talked to him calmly.

Brock Berlin hadn't played a single down.

The second stringers, looked more in sync this time around. Shirdonya Mitchell didn't get burned for a touchdown himself. Fred Evans and Kevin Vickerson got some pressure on the quarterback. And Matt Roth showed some moved to get around an offensive lineman a la Kevin Carter.

Closing thoughts

We did very well. Our first and second strings were looking great. It was the third stringers that concerned me. But hey, we won. Next stop, Carolina.

Thanks, for the time and view...

Looking sharp all around really, but I know that this D might still bend a little as long as it is tough to score against...
