Hey guys. How are all of you doing today? Once again, it's my weekly column. We are three days removed from our game at Carolina. In some ways, it was a disaster. In some ways, it was a spectacle. Unfortunately, I can only give you a short column this time so I'll get to the juiciest details.
The Good News
Our defense, for the most part, was very good. Great even. Jake Delhomme only completed six passes for 58 yards and no touchdowns. Matt Roth and Jason Taylor grabbed our lone two sacks in the game. Our secondary, from bottom to top, improved dramtically, forcing Kasay to kick from beyond 40 yards on all of his kicks except one.
Our passing game was great, with Peelle and Welker showing great concentration after getting tattooed after making the receptions. Chris Chambers would of had two touchdown passes had it not been for interference on his part (We all know he did it. He wasn't robbed). Derek Hagan also caught a pass for a first down. Geralds Riggs Jr. showed some hands coming out of the backfield.
Daunte scrambled for the first time in action, running for about eight yards. So far, I'm really regretting not getting the name of Daunte's surgeon. I might want to look him up in a few years.
Joey looked solid. And so did Cleo Lemon, all things considered.
And what do you know? Ronnie Brown can pass.
The Bad News
The offensive line was pretty much having problems. Watching Ronnie Brown trying to find a hole to go through that night was like watching someone trying to find a needle in a haystack. He was only able to pull of one good one. I'm not going to outright blame Benny Anderson. All of them should of done better. But right now, I wish Seth McKinney and Joe Toledo wasn't injured.
Our special teams messed up in allowing the only touchdown by Carolina.
My thoughts
Last year, our secondary was our primary weakness. This year, in my opinion, it is the offensive line. We have one last game against the rams. Jimmy Kennedy and La'Roi Glover are no slouches. They should also be a test for our offensive line.
Quote of the week
"I walked up to Chris Gamble and I told him, 'Thank you. If he hadn't hit me like that, I probably wouldn't be here right now. I was very excited to come back to the city of Charlotte and I was glad to go out and show people it really isn't an issue."
