Just Think. If we pick up Corey Simon then we'll be able to trade some of our other players. Maybe Derrius Thompson and Lamar Gordon for a descent Olineman or something. Even better, if we somehow trade Gordon for a, lets say, 6thrdpick or possibly, just possibly a 5thrder and sign Corey, we could definitely set up a trade with the extra pick and Derrius Thompson or someone else.

How would picking up a D Lineman let us trade a WR or RB? We can do that anyway? Not being a as$hole here, just trying to see your logic, maybe I'm misreading or something.

I agree I'm lost on why we would need to sign Simon to do these things.

:yeahthat:

If we get Simon it's more likely we would trade Zgonina (SP?). He has a decent salary and would get maybe a 5th rounder.

I don't think picking up Simon will free us of anyone with trade value.

no offense but i for one dont think we should pickk him up. we already have a solid D. We need to focus on our offense to balance our team.

We are thin / aging in the middle of the line no matter how good. Simon would help fill a need. Maybe the original poster thought having another player means we need to get rid of someone and getting Simon would push us to deal Gordon or Thompson a little faster??????????????? I dunno.

theres no money for him phili wants backs not aging d lineman, a 29 year old wr with very little talent and thats coming from a derrius fan

No offense (pun intended). I don't disagree with your logic about focusing on offense, however, DTs of Simon's calibur do not come along everyday.

He would instantly become the #1 interior DLineman on our roster and is a force in the middle. His presence would do several things for the D.

First - he would command double teams which would in turn force 1v1 on our DEs or force teams to hold and chip with either a back or TE. This would reduce the number of weapons they can put against our weakend secondary.

Second - because Simon would force interior OL to double him, that means they would not be free to get to the LBs as quickly. This frees up Zach and Crowder on the inside. There is a reason that Trotter saw his best seasons in Philly while playing right behind Simon. Trotter all but disappeared in Washington.

I think Simon instantly makes our defense more formidable on every level. I hope we get him.

That is what i was thinking. if anything simion would enable us to trade zgonia or holliday someone like that. but i don't see how a d-lineman effects the offense.

picking up simon would just confuse us all much worse as in whos go to start in the d-line
