CARLSBAD, Calif. — Tight end Dion Sims has cleared a major hurdle to put him in line to return to the lineup Sunday against the San Diego Chargers.
Sims cleared the concussion protocol and, barring a setback, will be in the lineup against San Diego.
“Things are looking good right now for us,” Head Coach Adam Gase said after practice Friday. “We’ve got a good chance for him to be active. He’s out of the concussion protocol, which is good. Everything seems to be OK, we just want to keep going through our process.”
Sims missed the victories against the Buffalo Bills and the New York Jets after sustaining a concussion against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
He returned to practice in the middle of last week and appeared on track to return last Sunday but ultimately wasn’t cleared in time for the Jets game.
“I’m glad to be back out there,” Sims said. “The process was long, but it is what it is. My health is first.
“Yeah, I’m ready for a full load to try and pick where I left off and help as much as I can with the success that we’re having right now.”
