We have 2 very good runningbacks and one of them or BOTH of them are capable of going to the next level. However since penny is really only good inside the numbers on the field and not able to go deep all that well, wouldn't it make sense to line ricky and ronnie up in a split set and use fasano/martin alongside ginn and bess/camarillo and run a west coast style of offense? That way we can utilize both backs at the same time and honestly brown could VERY well fit this scheme because IMO he is at his best when he can swing out and into the flats and catch as well as run. I still am unconvinced right now that he is a GREAT straight up runner on the level of tomlinson or similar; where the back just hits the hole and is gone. Ronnie loves to make moves and find the hole but just doesn't have the speed to strech the field consistently (did on that 62 yarder though!!). He just doesn't hit the hole like williams does IMO.

That being said we could do that and wear them down with ricky and hit ronnie out of the backfield. With chads uncanny accuracy 10-25 yards, this could be EXTREMELY hard to stop. We get the linebackers to stay at home to cover this along with a cheating saftey and we are going to find one on one matchups with our wideouts.

Just a thought as it seems ronnie is coming into a westbrook type mold or at least could easily be.

Also for you dummies that are going to come in here saying it is a bash on ronnie, that is NOT the case. The kid is going to be phenomenal BUT I think he could catch 70 balls a year in a west coast style offense and really make his mark.

id say no our WR's have a tendency to get jammed up at the line

i don't think this team is made for this. we have two physical backs, while they are both quick and agile, i don't think we would be fit for a west coast style. and last year i noticed many times ronnie stretching the ball for 20-30 yards and hitting the hole so hard that players just couldn't tackle him.

the system we had yesterday took pressure off our o-line to hold blocks because ronnie ended up with the ball right away instead of the regular hand off. i actually think people under estimate ricky's speed. on his long gainer he was freakin movin

The only reason I came up with this thought is because it allows the qb to dump the ball off to the backs and doesn't rely on a down field deep vertical passing game. Since we two very good backs, they could be on the field both at the same time and cause fits for the opposing defenses. With the trickery aside, that is really what we did yesterday anyway. Used the run and swing passes to open up a short and intermediate passing game.

Also the more I see ronnie play, the more he is like westbrook. It would be a shame not to get ronnie 5 catches a game out of the backfield, using williams as a decoy. I also think we should run more screens to ronnie or ricky once the o-line jells more. Ronnie just SCREAMS screen to me.

Our wideouts are very similar to phillies in size. Besides jackson they really don't have much and I believe ginn in time, could be jackson in terms of streching the field. The problem is having a qb that can get him the ball 50 yards down field.

I dunno with ricky and ronnie back there, we have to find a way to get them both on the field at the same time. We are sitting in the same scenario as jacksonville with taylor and jones-drew. However their passing game sucks too.

Regardless, ronnie could be a 235 1250 10, 70-725 6 type of back.

If we play henne this year or even next year it will be a BIG mistake. We will ruin him like we did beck. Henne needs 2 good years on the pine to learn. These rookies are too fragile now-a-days to plan too early. Just look how pennington and romo turned out riding the pine. Looks like rogers is going to be another example.

We really don't need to change the offense per se. Yesterday was kind of an example of what we need to run and kind of west coast-ish. We just need to get ronnie and ricky on the field together instead of subing in and out. Then have the wideouts run short to intermediate passing routes and try deep a few times a game. Ronnie needs to be a part of the passing game consistently as well.
