SI's Top Franchise QBs

No Peyton?

The credibility of that article went out the window without Peyton in there. What team wouldn't take Peyton over vick schaub Quinn Culpepper Mc nabb and well every other qb on that list. I don't understand how *******es like the guy who wrote that article can get work and have it published.

Did you READ the article? They said YOUNG QB TO BUILD YOUR FRANCHISE AROUND. Peyton is already in his 8th season, which makes him like 31-ish. If they were talking about a QB to make your team have an immediate shot at the SB then of course Peyton would top the list, but they aren't. They are looking at young QBs that show potential to be great and carry a franchise for years to come. Try reading the article before you post about a writer's "credibility" next time, because it just makes yours look bad.

* Peyton Manning, Indianapolis Colts
You’re thinking: Where’s Peyton on our list? Our thinking? Peyton had his career year in 2004, and he’ll never top that. Besides, you wouldn’t build a franchise around a QB now in his eighth season. No disrespect to the future Hall of Famer, the purposes of this assignment was to identify the quarterbacks who you would build around for the long-term future.

:rolleyes: Eh... Tom Brady is 28. Donovan McNabb is almost 29. Peyton Manning is 29. Apparently the cut-off date for the future is 29. Personally, I think that's a bunch of technical bull. Good way to sell an article, though.

But, Peyton Manning isn't 31. He's 29.

I said "ish". Besides, 29 is still too old to be classified as a "young QB to build your franchise around".

*EDIT* to be fair though, I don't think Brady or McNabb should be on the list if Peyton isn't, since they are all about the same age. Or At least McNabb, and make 28 the cutoff point.

Maybe you should look at the ages of the other qbs listed. If you did you would see that there ages are at or near Paytons. You wouldn't feel so stupid then when the other posters have to school you on your facts.

Too bad I don't feel stupid because I added to my post above stating that it would be fair to either include peyton or cut out McNabb and the others his age. Maybe you should read through the other posts and you wouldn't feel so stupid when you bash me for a "mistake" that I corrected already. Besides, I was ESTIMATING Peyton's age, whoever corrected me all they had to do was go look it up, who actually knows the ages of all the QBs by heart? I could have easily looked at his player bio and posted he was 29, but I didn't I said "like 31-ish" which is obviously a guesstimate, so relax. Wether he is 29, 31, 47, the fact still remains that he is not a YOUNG QB that the article was talking about. Yea, the article is flawed in that it lists a few other QBs that are very close to Peyton's age, but I didn't write the article, the point of my posts was to point out that the article doesn't lose credibility because it leaves Manning out because it is an article about YOUNG QBs to build your franchise around.

i had a curious feeling about brady and manning a couple months ago. besides, they mention peyton and mcnabb's ages in the article too. that's beside the point, though. the point, as you admitted to earlier, was that the cut off of a couple months between mcnabb and peyton is cutting it awfully close. i think peyton plays another 7 years anyway. he could outlast mcnabb i this league very easily. we're talking about a matter of 4 months age, and 1 season in the league.

yes, i know you agreed with me. i just wanted to point it all out, otherwise i'd forget it myself.
