Site downtime after a game

Last night the board was unavailable at a time after the game, presumably b/c people were on here and were excited about the game. This isn't the first time this has happened though, there has to be a way around it.

The Dolphins "other" site worked fine throughout the whole night

We have huge servers, and even the biggest servers can only take so much traffic before things slow down and in worst cases become unavailable. As you can see, a game like last night was big, so the traffic was through the roof. That is the price we have to pay sometimes for being the largest Miami Dolphins fan site. Other fan sites may have stayed up during that time, because lets face it, they don't see anywhere near the traffic we see.

I understand. Is there anything we the board members can do to get bigger servers? We should be able to talk all night about the game if we wanted to. I'm not blaming you or any mods, I just think we can do something to fix the situation.

we're currently policing sigs and avatars again, as there has historically been a performance hit when a lot of people log in and people have videos/large sigs all displaying every time they post.
