Here’s another thread to discuss our offensive skilled positions, but did break this up into two sections.

Quarterbacks
Ryan Tannehill – Signed through 2015
Matt Moore – UFA
McLeod Bethel-Thompson – PS

After FA and draft signings they should start working on along-term deal for Tannehill. I know I have been critical on him, just as I amfor all the Dolphins, well probably more so as the QB should take a lot of criticismsince the game is all about the QB now. However, watching the Carolina/AZ gamereminded me how truly lucky we are that we finally have a QB to build this teamaround. Tannehill is Miami’s QB for the present, near and long-term future, sowrap him up and build the team around him.

I would love to see Moore brought back as a back-up at a muchbetter price tag, but watching that game reminded me that he may actually beable to compete for a starting job. If they can’t get him back I am not tooworried as there are many low cost vets out there that can be signed. Also lookto bring in a UDFA as another camp arm and maybe PS guy.

Running Backs
Lamar Miller – Signed through 2015
Damien Williams – Signed through 2017

Mike Gillislee – signed through 2017
Daniel Thomas – UFA

Knowshon Moreno – UFA
LaMichael James – UFA

I know 1,000 yards isn’t the same glamorous number that it usedto be, but it’s still a bench mark number and I thought Miller did wellespecially the second half of the season when the line was just crap. Damien WilliamsI know is most noted for the dropped TD pass in the NE game but he has beenpretty solid as a #2 and a receiving back. Who knows what we have in Gillislee, but my guess is he will probably be gone at some point during the cuts in camp.

They will need to add a vet in free agency and hopefully it willbe an upgrade over Daniel Thomas (who really didn’t look horrible) that can getsome tough short yardage gains. I have expressed my interest in Frank Gore manytimes as I think he is a good leader and while he and Miller are already friendsand workout partners I think on the same team he could help take Miller to thenext level.

I know many would like Miami to draft Gordon, but as much as hemay be a special type of back, he is a luxury and not a need at this point. Iwouldn’t draft a RB, but look for a UDFA to develop.

When you have a chance at truly SPECIAL talent....you get it.

We can fill the other holes with other picks and free agency.

Melvin Gordan is a home run hitter who will help this offense score points and impact this offense more than anyone else we could draft.

Defenses will never ever take their eyes off him and he will open it up for everyone else.

I would say coming off a 97 yard TD run Miller is a home run hitter as well. Miller proved he can do the job and is a threat anytime he touches the ball. Shore up the offensive line and I think he is a Shady McCoy type of back.

oh boy... Miller is a good back but please don't ever compare him to Shady McCoy ever again... McCoy is the most elusive back since Barry Sanders, Miller isn't elusive at all, he is just fast. He is a one cut and run back. Miller will never be in the same class as McCoy.

I would be elated to pair Miller with Gordon. Miller is a great complimentary back but he isn't someone you could build a team around.

So Miller who averaged 5.1 YPC behind a very bad offensive line can't be compared to McCoy who averaged 4.2 behind a better offensive line. Ok, I guess I understand that. They both had eight 20+ yard runs, and Miller had 8 TD's compared to McCoy's 5. Oh Miller also had a 97 yard run to McCoy's 81. You need to understand the difference between the words compare and exactly...Never said he was as good, said he compared with.

Tannehill is signed through 2016? I thought it was only 2015, with a 5th year option that hasn't been exercised yet.

edit: same with Miller, signed through 2015.

I'm not talking about stats, watch the way they run! Shady is elusive and quick, it's like catching lightning... Miller only has one move: one cut to the side and run straight really fast. They aren't at all similar. Shady is a far superior back and that really can't be debated.

Shady can also shake off a tackler, Miller falls down almost as much as hartline.

Once again you are taking what I said and making it an exact comparison. I originally said "TYPE" of back. I never said he was as good, I said type, then I said compare. I never claimed he was as good, that was completely fabricated by your personal interpretation. What I stated is a matter of opinion, the stats I posted are facts, every bit of that is debatable. They both catch the ball well and yes McCoy is shiftier, but in a ZBS you want a one cut back that can plant his foot and go. Miller can got from a trot to a full sprint in two steps. My version of "type" is putting up similar numbers, and Miller is already doing that...

Miller catches the ball well? That's news to me... I saw him brick hand several passes last year.

Your exact quote was: "shore up the oline and I think he is a Shady McCoy type back"...

Again, no... He is not a Shady type back and will never be. He doesn't have the elusiveness and quickness that makes Shady such an unbelievable threat in the backfield.

"Oh Boy" ok I give, you are the all powerful all knowing...Your responses are the biggest issue I have with this forum. Instead of debating in a respectful way you want to try and prove how much smarter you are. If you want to debate I am for that as I cleared up my meanings for you, if you want to fight move on I don't have time for you...

Fortunately, QB & RB are the least of worries heading into 2015. Focus better be on the receiving corp (WR/TE) and fixing that ****ing offensive line once and for all. With the problems on our defense, back-up QB is a non-concern. If Tannehill goes down we don't have a defense that could step up and sustain our team anyways.

Chill dude, it's just a message board. There are more important things to fret about in life.
