Brian Hartline – Signed through 2017, $7.3 if on the roster, $4.2 if off(cutting him saves $15.3m over the next three years)

L`Damian Washington – PS
Where do we start? It’s hard to imagine that in an offense wherethe QB threw for 4,000 yards, 27 TD’s and a QPR of 92.8 that there is a clamoringto revamp the WR corps. Unfortunately many of the stats where empty stats that happenedbetween the 20’s. Miami visited the RZ more than any other team, which isgreat, but they were one of the worst teams in scoring RD TD’s which is a badand the reason they must revisit this unit. For the most part Miami’s receiversare small and not physical (yes Hartline is 6’2”, but plays more like he’s 5’11).Landry and Matthews play physical, but Matthews seems to be permanently in thedoghouse and Landry doesn’t have the height to be a RZ target.
As much as his last game antics were terrible, it would justcost the team too much to replace Wallace this year. I know football is anemotional game, but it’s also a business and Wallace’s contract was structuredto be three years so they will all need to kiss and make nice for 2015. BrandonGibson and Matthews are probably gone. Gibson cost too much to keep as a rolereceiver and Matthews doesn’t seem to be in favor of the coaching staff.Hartline is a solid #3/4, but not a $7m. I would be fine with telling him heneeds to take a pay cut, or be cut and good like finding work. He’s a hardworker, seems to be a good team guy and can play on ST if he’s in that role.
Miami MUST find a big receiver. I know they have Hazel and Washington, but they are both developmental guys and who knows what they can bring ifanything. Finding a RZ receiver must be a priority this off-season no matter ifit comes in free agency or the draft. I would love to see Andre Johnson orLarry Fitzgerald become cap casualties and Miami make a hard play for them. They both bring the size and veteran leadership this team needs.
If a big receiver can be signed in free agency then I don’tthink Miami has a desperate need to look at one of the top big receivers in thedraft and can use the first round pick on other areas of need like corner or DTthen look to take a receiver in a later round to develop.
Tight Ends
Dion Sims – signed through 2016
Arthur Lynch – signed through 2017
Charles Clay - UFA
Jake Stoneburner – PS
To be honest I would resign Charles Clay who wants to stay inMiami and call it a day here. You can’t fix everything in the off-season andClay paired with the emergence of Sims this year is a nice combination. I thinkLynch can provide more blocking and a big receiver in the RZ when he ishealthy. Who knows what if anything Stonebuner can give you, with a name likethat he should be a linebacker…
