Redskins | Team will not cut Ramsey; still hope to trade him
Wed, 8 Mar 2006 05:27:03 -0800
David Elfin, of the Washington Times, reports the Washington Redskins will not release QB Patrick Ramsey. Instead they still hope to trade him in exchange for a second- or third-round draft pick. Other teams interested in Ramsey hope to surrender a lower-round draft pick for Ramsey.

Are these guys for real, what the hell did this guy ever do.

There is no way their going to get a 2nd or 3rd round pick for him. Rick Spielman isn't in the league anymore.

Washington is ridiculous. Ramsey isn't worth a 2nd or 3rd round pick. Let them keep holding out, his trade value is low anyone, I don't see how it gets any lower. He just wants to play somewhere, but "I'm the best coach ever" Gibbs is too greedy

Or is it Moneybags Snyder?

He hasn't proved himself to be worth that. Especially from the way Saban drafts so far in his early career. Their will be better qb's IMO in the fourth anyway.

Gibbs acts like a child about these sort of things. Once his advisors inform him he is 17 million over the cap he starts pouting "But I want him, he is mine. No body else can have him!"

At this point, the decision to keep Ramsey is based on one thing...they will have the cap room to keep him if the CBA deal is done. If not, they are in dire straits and likely have to cut him. It's that simple. What they are hoping for, is that if the CBA doesn't get resolved and we have to go with the 94.4 mil figure, teams (like Miami) will be more likely to trade rather than have to wait to see if they will cut him. I'm guessing that his salary and cap figure are manageable by other teams, making a trade an easier way to go with him than letting the market drive up his price in FA ??

The problem is that the Skins remember what Speilman was offering two years and are having a hard time coming to grips with the fact that Ramsey isn't worth that much.

Theyre smart not to trade him because they can still get SOMETHING for him in the market. But had Gibbs played his cards correctly and given Ramsey some opportunities to display his skills, he could have gotten much, much more.

Gibbs is an old-fashioned football coach. Hes not a businessman. This is a classic example to illustrate that point.

Gibbs is stupid if he thinks someone is gonna fork over a 1st day pick for Ramsey. There is alot of talent in 1st day QB's this year (i.e. Croyle, Jacobs, Whithurst). He shoud just accept a 5th or 6th round pick and be happy he got that much for him.

They don't have first round picks, so they are trying to compensate that lack of picks by asking a 2nd or 3rd round pick for Ramsey

thats perfect now the RAMSEY over drew brees threads can stop

Ramsey is not worth a 2nd or 3rd. He has a great arm and is accurate, after he finally decides to get rid of the ball. He is extremely slow at making decisions and getting rid of the ball. Maybe the lightbulb will go on for him, but right now he is a major risk. He may have all the tangibles but he simply has not played WINNING football and is lacking the intangibles SO FAR. There have been guys who have turned it around. Maybe he will, but there really is no evidence to support that yet.

I have to question Gibbs coaching in his old age, the guy sits Lavar saying he isn't playing well/making too many mistakes and when they start playing him again he looks like a superstar. No wonder Lavar was willing to pay the skins money to leave Gibbs is washed up.
