Didn't realize just how many injuries and how much pain Will Allen played through last season.
"I had a torn MCL [in his left knee]," Allen says. "A groin, but it wasn't a normal groin. It was like so big I couldn't even close my legs together. It was just filled with fluid inside of my leg. I had a hip contusion that they had to drain. That I think they got 100 CCs out of it. They had to drain that. I had a mild turf toe?"

He says he hurt the knee in the first quarter of the Oct. 12 loss to Houston. "How I stayed in that game, I have no idea. I let them put that brace on there, and I continued to play with it," Allen says. "I played the whole time with my leg feeling loose. And I got through it. I just understood what I needed to do, and what I couldn't do on the field."

Two weeks later, he hobbled off early against Buffalo. In the fourth quarter, he returned an interception 30 yards. "There were plenty of games where I was out there and, boy, there were certain routes, there was no way I would have been able to cover them," he says.

After pulling his groin in Kansas City, Allen spent the week getting treatment at every conceivable hour, whether that meant setting his alarm at 2:30 a.m., arriving at the facility at 6 a.m., spending his breaks in the training room, and inviting Dolphins personnel into his house at night.

Allen was a warrior for us. Those are the types of guys that Parcells loves. And he gave him a $16M 2-year extension because Allen showed "brass balls" last season. As Jim Mandich likes to say.

Last year Allen played with-

Torn MCL
Groin pull
Hip contusion
Turf toe

He is a beast.
Most players would of chose to sit out with just one of those injuries ...
But he hasnt won much since coming over here and im sure he didnt want to sit out while we did

I wish Roth would read it.

I dont doubt Roth's toughness. And I applaud Will Allen. But, a player needs to know A) When its not a good decision to play "injured" B) When does his injury become a liability to the team.

Thankfully, whatever route Will Allen was worried about the other team running, they didn't run. But with our depth coming along at CB, I hope the other CBs will take themselves out so that the chance of them running a Go route doesnt result in an easy TD because our player has too much pride to stay in the game. I understand it, I like tough players...but there comes a time when he must think of the team's well being.

If Roth is doing that (and since our FO is so tight lipped about these things we may never know) then I applaud him. If this is a business decision, I think he is being ill served by his agent. The best way to get paid big next year is to play big this year. Which is why I do think Roth is hurt. Hes smart enough to realize that unless he can play, and play well this year, no team is going to give him a big contract next year. I hope this gets resolved.

Will Allen loves football and isn't making excuses. He isn't here just to sit out and get paid, he wants to be on the field.

Roth played with a partially torn groin muscle last year so I think he already knows how to play with pain.

he's also cleared to practice right now and isn't. maybe he knows how to play with pain, but just doesn't want to
