As bad as you may think the Saban era was, for the people who worked for the Dolphins, it was actually a hundred times worse. I had heard many, many stories, but every time I meet someone else who experienced it, I find out how little I really know.

It is embarrassing that H. Wayne Huizenga, in his desperation, looked the other way as Saban was running roughshod over just about everyone he encountered

:ffic:Here's to Bad decisions that were corrected... And Go Gators!

Nick Saban and Cam Cameron, two totaly different personalties. Thank goodness for the difference and hope that the difference shows on the field as well.
Its great that Cameron and Mueller get along so well, thats a definite plus for the team.

This is basically why I can't stand Saban. It's not because he left for Alabama. It's because he was lousy to everyone from many of the players and alumni, all the way down to the mail room clerks. He's just a lousy individual all around.

He had me fooled. I'll admit that one.
Now that the dust has settled, I'm happy
with the new direction. If you have no respect
for anyone else - you deserve none as well.

The problem with this line of thought is that the "bad decisions" weren't corrected by Huizenga at all. It was Saban who decided to leave not Huizenga who told him to "hit the road". If Saban hadn't bolted, he would still be the Fins' HC.

Unfortunately, that's very true. I applaud Huizenga for making a good hire in Cam Cameron, but I honestly think if Dave Wannstedt and scrapped together a couple more 9-7 seasons, he'd still be here as well. The problem with Wayne is he doesn't know much about sports and the people who have given him advice in the past didn't do a very good job. However, I don't fault Wayne for hiring Saban because I thought he was the right pick at the time too. But Kinzua is right. If Saban hadn't left for Alabama, little Nicky would still be goose stepping around Miami with his little henchman Scott O'Brien right behind him making scary faces as secretaries and assistants. A very embarassing era in Dolphins history.

Man, must be really slow if we're starting new threads on blog entries from May... :D

The only thing I don't like is the shot about Wayne looking the other way. Wayne is a very hands off owner. He let's the football guys run it the way they want. Like now, he's not standing over Mueller and Cam making sure they play nice, he's simply letting them figure things out.

Although I think Saban is a prick, I still think most journalists articles are exaggerated because of the way he treated the media.

And there would still be people here claiming that he was a "great" coach and well on his way to the Hall of Fame.
