Bit surprising but the right move, we invested way too much time into a player that was never going to make it at the NFL level.
 
The backup QB situation in the NFL as a whole is largely terrible.

The most important position in the NFL, and 80%+ of backup QBs are a maaaajor drop off to the starting QB.

There is only maybe 40 total serviceable QBs in the whole nfl… not even enough for each team to have a good backup.

And the backups after the top 4-5 are all TERRIBLE. The drop off from starter to backup for *most* teams is INSANE.

It’s kind of an odd thing when you think about it. Is QB really this insanely hard of a job?
 
Nice guy, earned an NFL pay cheque far longer than he probably should have to be honest.

To win with a backup qb you need really good defense. Like 17 points or less for entire game. Not 17 points in first quarter.
Skylar sucks. Honestly I would have kept guy from New York even if he sucked too

This offense is set up for Tua only. It’s a problem
 
Thank Christ we have Tua or we win one game this year. Steelers shoulda got him
They would win Super Bowl.

This in effect Miami will lean on him as #3 if Huntley gets hurt while not paying him game salary. They cut him, then maybe they call him back because he knows the playbook. So while he drives for UPS he keeps his cell close! This is just a Grier cost-cutting move. In this crap season, Skylar is the 1st QB they call for #3 if Tua goes down.

His best game was on the road in Buffalo in the '22 playoff game. He almost squeaked us in! He had the ball in his hands and Mia did not convert late in the 4th quarter. Skylar had us close that game!

Imagine looking like that! It's not like you don't have a good Pass Protection OLine in front of you! That + you can run at will! Imagine getting thrown to the wolves behind this OLine with only 2nd string practice experience. Shudder to think!

Tim Boyle is on the NY Giants 53 now. Was signed then cut shortly after then re-signed. If no one takes Skylar on, Chris Grier has him designated "#1" on the speed dial if Tua goes down this season! All about keeping a non-paid #3 hanging on the cheap! Cutting Skylar has nothing to do with improving the team by subtraction.
