03/01/07 - Schouman missed the preliminary medical tests because he didn't arrive until 12:30 a.m. Feb. 22. He started his tests at 6 a.m. the next day — the drug test came first — and didn't finish until about 11:30 p.m. Tests included an MRI and a blood test. Doctors took a close look at the knee he injured in 2004 and pronounced him healthy. "I spent the whole day getting poked and prodded by team doctors," he said. "… It was the longest day I think I've ever had." The second day was less hectic, but included Schouman's chance to meet with team representatives. Interviews lasted until 11:30 p.m. each night. Most players were up by 6 the next morning. "Myself as well as my roommate, we were too wired to go to sleep right away," Schouman said. "You lost a lot of sleep trying to calm down from the whole day." The fun, Schouman said, came while talking football with NFL personnel and competing with the nation's top pro prospects during the workout. "It was the longest weekend I've ever been a part of, but I never would trade it," Schouman said. "… It was tons of fun and doing what you love to do, which is play some ball and be around (football)." - Chadd Cripe, Idaho Statesman 02/27/07 - NFL COMBINE: Schouman was outstanding in the tight end tests Saturday. He finished first in his group in the 20-yard shuttle (4.27 seconds), 60-yard shuttle (11.56) and vertical jump (37.5 inches). He was second in the broad jump (10-2), third in the three-cone test (7.0 seconds) and tied for fourth in the 40 (4.74 seconds). - Idaho Statesman 12/07/06 - All-WAC First Team: Senior tight end Derek Schouman was fourth on the team in receptions with 21 for 204 yards and three touchdowns. Schouman, Naanee and Clady (Rialto, Calif./Eisenhower HS) were instrumental in the Broncos finishing the regular season second in the country in scoring, sixth in rushing and 11th in total offense.
Seriously being a Boise fan i think he will be a NFL tightend; big, strong, fast for a TE, and has nice hands. He will be a steal for whichever team Drafts him. Warning from a Boise Fan; WATCH OUT!
