NFC: ST. Louis Rams

As if Marc Bulger needed any weapons on offense the Rams added Brian Leonard, Randy McMichael, Drew Bennett, Travis Minor, and Dante Hall to an already star studded offense which include Orlando Pace, Stephen Jackson, Torry Holt, and the vetran Ike Bruce. Defensively they added Adam Carriker , a monster out of Nebrsaka who adds to a solid defensive line that includes defensive tackles Jimmy Kennedy and Laroi Glover and bookend Leonard Little. Will Witherspoon, Tye Hil, and Cory Chavous are other bright spots for this defense. This team is going to put up a lot of points and if there defnse can hold it's own, watch out for the Rams.

AFC: Miami Dolphins

They had the 4th ranked defense in the league last year and got even better this off-season by addint the star linebacker JoeyPorter. Porter will team up with Jason Taylor to provide the league's most fiersome pass rush. Last year's 1st round pick Jason Allen has a year under his belt to elarn the system and should be able to contribute to the secondary unit. Matt Roth has been preparing for years to be the team's starting end and his chance has come. Roth is one mean S>O>B that brings even more intensity to a star studded defense. Ted Ginn gives them a big play threat on both offense and special teams in addition to opening the field for Chris Chambers, Ronnie Brown, and Marty Booker. Ginn's speed is unbelievable and his knack for making big plays will continue to the enxt level. Cory Schlesinger is the best fullback we have had in Miami in a long time and should open holes for Ronnie. So Should Samson Satale. Most importantly offensive guru Cam Cameron has an offense gameplan something we have lacked in Miami.

So last year Miami was picked to go to the super bowl . Now this year Miami is the sleeper pick ? sorry, I don't buy it .

The thing is, is Miami has 5 new guys on the line .. Either new guys in there, or guys playing different positions.. Plus a new offense is being installed..

Now most people thinks it's a given Miami will lose some games early in the season because it will take the offense (and the o-line) time to gel .. The problem with that is, when the offense starts gelling, the team will face a much tougher schedule during the last half of the season.. Not a good combination

Miami also has a secondary that is prone to giving up big plays.. And it's no guarantee the front 7 will play as good as last season.. Players are a year older now. There have been countless examples where an older player on the wrong side of 30 has a great year later in his career, just to flop in the following year .. There is no guarantee Thomas or Taylor will be as productive next season.. Same for Porter .. There is a good history of Pittsburgh linebackers going to other teams and just not being as good as before..

There are just too many if's and question marks for this team at the moment, especially offensively, to give any indications this team can be a sleeper..

Keep in mind no team has had as much turn over of it's roster than Miami .. Miami has more new players than any team in the league.. It takes quite some time for so many new players to get used to one another..

Furthermore, another problem is the kickoff coverage.. While Miami may have a better return average with Ginn, Miami won't have the luxury of having Mare kick it into the endzone for a touchback .. Feely just isn't good at kicking it deep into the end zone, he simply doesn't have the leg to do that ... Teams likely won't be starting at their own 20 like before.. Consider this a huge question mark when you also couple this with Miami having new guys running down on the kick coverage team.. We just don't know how they will do .. Hence this area of the team being yet another "question mark" ..If all the chips fall Miami's way, you will see the team at around 7-9 or 8-8 .. And that's if Miami gets the breaks throughout the season .

I buy it! Our o-line has HUNGRY YOUNG TALENT. Something we haven't had in a while. Houck will have them razor sharp and foaming at the mouth. Our secondary won't give up that many plays if opposing qb's are laying on their back-sides, thank you front seven, and Ginn will spread the field opening up lanes for Chambers, Brown, Booker & Booker (sounds like a law firm). And special teams? Ginn & L. Booker (have you seen their highlite clips?), I think will be better and more exciting that Welker (who I like very much). So yeah, I think we're a sleeper team.

The neat thing is to have hope. Being from Hamilton, Ontario and a big Raptors fan I saw first hand this year what a roster turnover and and the right mix of players with a new style can do. Bryan Colangelo came in and the team fielded 9 new players out of twelve and managed to finish with the best record in the teams history and won their division for the first time. Although they lost in the first round getting to the post season was not even a thought before the year started. Let hope the Phins can repeat that success.

I wouldn't call the Rams a sleeper. I have them going to the Super Bowl out of that crappy NFC. They might be worse than 5 or 6 AFC teams but couldn contend with any one in the NFC. They have the best running back, best receiver and one of the best 3 QBs in the NFC to go along with great supporters to those stars. Randy McMichael lifts their tight end to one of the tops in the NFC, signing Drew Bennett allows less pressure on Bruce and Holt and the defense, while not great, will do just fine.

Steven Jackson will be the first pick in my fantasy league if I posess the first choice. Dude had more than 2300 total yards with 16 TDs last year. I don't care if they reduce his load, the guy is a load!

You could just as easily say this about the Dolphins.

Miami has a good defense, sure. The question is how much gas do they have left in the tank, and more importantly how much will they have left in December. The offense has so many Questions the Fox Network just lauched the hit TV show "Are You Smarter Than The Dolphins Front Office". Lets just say make room in the cellar because South Florida has just made it's reservations. The Dolphins can only hope it's wine cellar because they'll need something to dull the pain of what looks to be a looooooooooooong season. Then again a season without expectations might be exactly what the doctor ordered.

NFC

Arizona Cardinals -- This team has had a couple of really good drafts in a row and have one of the better young quarterbacks in Matt Leinart.

San Francisco 49ers -- In a weak division, the 49ers have a real chance to get to the playoffs. I think Pat Willis could win defensive rookie of the year honors.

AFC

Denver -- I'm not sure if they qualify as a sleeper team, but they are kind of under the radar with San Diego, New England and Indianapolis as the top three. Cutler is in his second year, the running game is always there and the defense keeps getting better.

I don't think we will make the playoffs but we will have an improved offense and a good defense as usual.

good stuff...totally agree

Dolphins will go 8-8 according to June Jones on the radio this morning. I think that sounds right, but I would say 9-7.

I see no reason to believe Miami will do better than 3rd in the AFC East. I wouldn't even bet they wont be forth. Pats of course will be better. And I think the Jets have drafted very well over the last few years and are on a solid rise. I think the best we as Dolphin fans can hope for is to see Beck come in and look good and settle the QB issue that has haunted the team since Dan retired. Maybe if they get that problem fixed they can start patching up the five or six other holes the team has.

The roster turnover thing is an overhyped negative. Look at the Saints last year, didn't they replace like 56% of the roster or something crazy like that? If the team is full of bad players, why keep them, I agree that there is a good chance that we could make some noise this year

That doesn't matter . Because the Saints were in the very weak NFC .. And secondly, they had Drew Brees who led the NFL in yardage thrown.. Even ahead of Manning..

Miami is not in the NFC, nor do they have anything close that resembles a seasoned Drew Brees type guy at the all important QB position.. Nor does Miami have that type of offensive line in New orleans to make all the parts go .

Miami will go between 5-11 and 7-9 .. mark that down..
