"Evans, at 6-foot-5 307 pounds, projects mostly as a defensive tackle, but some teams have discussed using him at defensive end in either the 3-4 or goaline alignments. The 3-4 requires run-stopping defensive ends who can occupy offensive lineman and free up outside linebackers to make plays, and, with some work, the stout, strong Evans would fit the bill.
The Dolphins, a predominately 3-4 team, showed a lot of interest in Evans in the days leading up to the draft, bringing him to Miami to tour their facilities and meet with head coach Nick Saban. Evans worked out in Houston with players like Haloti Ngata, a projected top-15 pick at defensive tackle and a player Evans calls “a very good friend.â€Â
