when i first became a dolphins fan it was back in the mid 80's .i am from buffalo ny and have never liked the bills.what drew me to the dolphins was their pass happy #13 .i can remember high scoring games minus a defense and a running game, but i did not care as long as we drove down the feild and hit duper or clayton in the endzone.that type of game was always expected out of the miami teams of the mid 80's up until when marino retired(actually wanny would not resign him but thats another story)now its run and then run and then run somemore and then throw .we now have a team with an excellant defense and two good runningbacks but no passing threat.
my question to all the fins fans is what would you rather see a pass happy o or a running team like we have now:D

Honestly, I think we've seen a more pass happy offense (thus far this season) than a pound it out type of offense.

I generally favor the passing game, but like you was certainly spoiled with Dan being here. I have to admit that I have enjoyed watching Ricky and Ronnie run. If only the stars had aligned and Dan had gotten a quality running back like Ricky in his last few years, ala Terrell gifting the SB's to Elway. Really they complement each other and with a good running game we will see the passing game open up. The problem has been that when other teams have stacked the line on us we couldn't take advantage downfield (Ricky 2003).

when saban feals he can put the game in ronnies or ricky's hands he will ride him ,so that type of football is in our near future.i think saban eased ronnie into the game and by last week he was starting to let him loose.i think we will see the same thing happen to ricky and after hi second or third game ricky will be set free as well.

first off, the fins wont be a power running team untill the 4th quarter... if they have the lead. i think the offensive Coordinator just likes to pass more.

secondly, HOW CAN YOU SAY THAT!!!!!!!! :tantrum:  :shakeno:

Let's get out the mentality of pass happy or Run and Run some more. Those days are long gone guys. This offense and Scott Linehan are about attacking and exposing weaknesses. It's going to depend week to week, it isn't run our plan no matter what they run anymore....

;)

Passing Can Obtain Large Chunks Of Yardage, But It Doesn't Necessarily Wear Down A D-line. In The Passing Game You Require More Time To Get The Recievers The Ball, We Don't Have That Luxury @ The Moment. A One /two Punch Of The Ronnie & Ricky Combo Should Wear The D-line Down From Left Tot Right, Thus Giving The Line An Advantage To Pass Block Once They're Worn Down. I Think There'll Be Alot Of Mis Direction Runs This Week, Short Dink & Dunk Style Pass Plays Before They Go Deep. We'll Try To Establish A Running Game Using 2 Backs To Keep Them Fresher, Short Passes Under The Deep Coverage, But Beyod The Linebackers. They Put 7 Or 8 In The Box, Look For Short Outs Or Slants, They Back Off The Line Look For Quick Pitches & Inside Runs. Especially If We Are In The Lead.

What ever we can do better at the time is what I like to see.:D If we can run the ball every time for 5 yards a carry, I would like to see them do it all day. Same with the passing game, if they can throw it all day, I love it. If we were successful doing both, and I had to pick one, I would probably choose the passing game. I love to see the 50 yard bombs that go for touchdowns.

Whatever works. In basketball, its more fun to watch a team that fast breaks, to a team like Detriot who is boring. But if boring wins a TITLE, then who cares.

But I would rather see a balance. It depends on how a defense plays us. I would prefer to have the ability to run or pass effectively. One week, run the ball down a teams throat. Next week, pass for 400yds. But with Frerotte, we cant have a pass happy offense.

Of course fans would rather watch a offense that passes a lot (Like the Colts) But every team doesnt have Manning. I would rather have an offense like the Patriots. They can do anything, anytime, anywhere.

I have been a big fan since 1966, so I have seen it all, in the 70'2 with Zonk and Kiick, and Morris it was run 85 to 90% of the time, you would be lucky to see 10 passes a game. Then came Marino and it was mostly passing, now its back to more running with some passing. Although its more fun to watch a team pass more, as long as they win, thats all I care about.

they play in Miami.....maybe if they played in the snowy shores of Cleveland i'd want smashmouth old style winter football, and with our backs hey maybe that would be a good fit. But i'm more of a fan of the vertical passing game, and i think our recievers would fit that well also. While i'd like a balanced offense over "anything happy" i'd like to see the ball thrown down the field more.

Heck, if we had an 'in-his-prime Marino'...I'd take pass happy with this group...it would be an awesome offense...perhaps one day soon we'll find a QB that is better than below average like we've had since Marino left...

This O has been more pass happy than any within the past 7 years or so. To answer your question, I'd want neither. I want an O that can and will do both with an unpredictable pattern. That's what wins championships.

if we get a QB that has an arm...Matt, JACOBS DONT BASH ME I JUST THREW THAT IN lol, Croyle, Quin or M. Vick, the Def. will worry about our passing game, then our R. game will be insane due to no more 8 men in the box and it'll open ethings up very well. thats why Den. was good, u wouldn't know if TD was runnin or Elways was puttin a hole in ur behind.
