I feel bad for the guy.

Havinging cleanup surgery on the shoulder. Leg fracture ahead of schedule but ankle is still a concern.

Smiley believes that with guard Donald Thomas coming back from his foot injury and the addition of a more experienced Andy Alleman and Jake Long, the line will be that much better next season after another offseason together.

"The sky's the limit for a group after another year of playing together,'' Smiley said.

I certainly do hope he comes back 100%. He's an affordable and capable player and knows the system.

This is EXACTLY why I have concerns about Smiley long term. I hope he'll fully healthy for the season, but I'm not putting money on it.

i have always liked Smiley but this is why i felt we overpaid for his services this offseason.

I like Justin as well, but this is the second year in a row he's finished on IR. Not only does he have to recover from his leg and ankle injuries, but also recover from cleanup surgery on a shoulder that put him on IR in 2007. This is why Samson Satele should stick around and be able to compete for one of the starting OG spots.
