thoughts on him. he is big, he is talent. but he also had shoulder injuries. now offensive linemen use their arms and hands and upper body all game long, its important for strength.... their shoulders are needed. this injury better be 100 percent, cause it also basically means no Rex Hadnot.

You can go to youtube and look up some Frank Gore highlights... and watch the Right Guard. That's what I did. Smiley can get to the second level and block linebackers, unlike Hadnot. He has good mobility.

On the downside, you see a constantly off-balanced guy who seems to be on the ground pretty frequently. His strength seems good enough... but not dominant.

He reminds me of Chris Liewinski. Maybe equal power. Maybe a bit more mobile. This falling down stuff scares me though. The guy who replaced Smiley last year when he was injured was an upgrade at that position.
