Smith to visit Seahawks after Dolphins

There has been a rumor floating (take with a grain of salt) that Seattle is much more excited about the prospect of getting Alex Smith than Matt Flynn. If possible, that leaves us as pretty much the only suitor left for Flynn, giving us a hell of a lot of negotiating leverage.

i find myself a little more excited to get smith too. I think he is bigger, just as athletic, larger body of work. Started for a while now, albeit not successful until this year. We would need to pay him more than 8 mil/year apparently.

I fixed the title for you.

Thanks man.

Again, sorry everybody about that, I'll make sure to proof-read my posts before I get in a hurry about them

So basically, more teams are interested in Smith than are interested in Flynn? Interesting.

like i said...leverage...if smith leaves san fran i'd bet money it will be seattle where he ends up...

I think this is great news for those of us that want Flynn (like myself). It has been reported that Carroll liked Smith better either way you would think Seattle would e a better fit for Smith plus he would get to play in the same division of the team he led to NFC Championship game last year & that would push Flynn to us for the right price.

Just to confirm the tweet just heard it on ESPN radio about Smiths visit to Seattle

What leverage do you speak of? Is not like any one is offering Flynn the money he's looking for or anyone willing to hand him over a starting job. Fins just looking at all their options an obviously Philbin isn't too fond of Flynn or anyone else for that matter.

I want nothing to do with Smith...He only produced with a great running game, great defense and soft-ass sked.

Flynn....Moore...Garrard....Smith.

Matt Flynn's got to be a little disappointed right now. There was talk that the Packers might franchise him, that he might be getting a Kolb type contract, etc., and then Peyton Manning hit the market. Suddenly, it's a buyer's market and the dude's probably going going to be looking at 5 mill per year, tops.

I hope our brass can convince him that if he proves it on the field, he'll earn himself a big contract.

who said anything in that post about flynn and leverage...it was about alex smith and the seahawks...

I wonder if we're looking at Garrard for a back up plan if we don't get Flynn or Smith? I mean obviously that would be the case, but I'm saying maybe they are thinking Flynn and Smith sign elsewhere and they want to draft Tannehill and sit him behind Garrard for a year or 2?

3qb hungary teams one won't even talk to him right now McCoy>>> Flynn. Im not buying row.s going Tannehill because they could get leap frogged no sure thing.

Well if Flynn goes to Cleveland and Smith goes to Seattle who could we get leap frogged by?

Colt McCoy is not better than Matt Flynn. Even with the 2 game sample size I have of Matt Flynn, I am pretty goddamn sure that in Philbin's offense he will outperform Colt McCoy.

I think Cleveland may be betting that they can get Brandon Weeden with that first rounder they got from Atlanta. That's my gut. They tried to move up for RG3 and (according to Holmgren) they got screwed because Shanahan and Fisher are friends. We'll see.

the one who is losing leverage here is matt flynn...sounds like he's gonna have to come off some of his salary demands especially if seattle gets alex smith but this peyton thing is holding everything up...i still think flynn will be a dolphin when this settles but i'm starting to wonder if he'll consider returning to the pack
