So do we want Pittsburgh or Cinci tonight?

pittsburgh. but Ravens losing still feels more important as fins can be set up to clinch next week if ravens lost tomorrow night

I actually have a Terrible Towel in my closet....I use it to dust my boots and Phin hats. Maybe I will get it out??? :chuckle:

Nice cheap shots going on by the Steelars. Way to crush the punter like that. It's hard cheering for these guys.

Somebody assure me that Pittsburgh couldn't somehow come back and bite our ass...

And I like pittsbugh winning as it makes miamis win last week which i I thought was a solid win look good or better. Some critic analysts think fins didnt have any big wins, or the pittsburgh win wasn't impressive. But as you can see tonight, though the steelers are 5-8, they've picked it up and have and are playing better than they have earlier in the year, so their record doesn't indicate that they are a tougher or better team than some think. Miami beat a steelers team in pittsburgh, a playoff hungry team in snowy weather conditions and beat them, a team now who is kicking the 9-4 bengals ass right now. Don't know how the game will end, but if steelers do win, it will help fins and make fins win that more legitimate.

What happens if the Bengals, Ravens, San Diego and us all finish 9-7, with Baltimore beating Cincy in week 17?

They have 2 more losses than we do and we hold the head to head against them. So cheer on.

So how is it that Pittsburgh still has a chance?

I believe we go in because the ravens win the division and we have the tie breaker over the bungles. We better win out now tho.

I looked up the answer to my own question, and it appears that first the Ravens would win the division, and in a three way tie between us, SD, and Balt, we win the first tiebreaker because we've beaten both opponents. After that is the conference record tiebreaker, which is how we'd get in with Baltimore involved in a three way tie.

With Cincy playing so poorly, and Minnesota coming up with a legit win today (and having played tough versus the Ravens), I don't see that game as a cupcake for Cincy, so I was trying to make sure them losing tonight wouldn't come back to bite us like that.

I don't see why we'd want Pittsburgh to win. Pitt winning just jumbles up the contenders for the 6th spot.

They don't in any scenario I can come up with now that we have 8 wins. Either way, I'm not rooting for this team to make the playoffs at 8-8, so I'm not worried about Pittsburgh. Root against Baltimore, root for SD, because if they get to 9 wins, it will only help us make the playoffs as long as Baltimore loses against NE or Cincy. If Baltimore doesn't get to 9 but we and SD do, we have the tiebreaker there too.
