We bring in Mcdougal, Cook, Middleton, draft Albairi (sp), and others, and what do we end up with when the seasons about to start..the same players from last year...

LT MCIntosh, LG James, C Seth, RG Hadnot, and the one change, but actually was meant to be last year, RT Carey, with ST. Clair as the swing guy along with the added Mcdougal. LOL, this is too funny..the worst OL in the league last year is now our hope for this year...

And when you think about it, it makes sense, since they got to know each other pretty much last year, the communication is best between them. It can be said this is their second year together....with the exception of Carey, Wise had it pretty much right all along when he said at the beginning of the season last year that they would be a work in progress all year, now Houck is changing techniques and say they'll be good next year. But we all agree, they look a little better right now compared to last year...so I'm hoping for continued improvement game after game after game..

Basically out of those guys the only one who could have contended for a job even was McDougle so is it that big of a surprise?

agreed very funny

but my guess is that macintosh wont stick, he was terrible last year and has only 1 good preseason game

rex, vernon, and jeno are solid
and stockar will be a starter by years end

Don't forget though, D-MAC rushed back too early from surgery though last year.

my guess is that he started for 2 years in san diego while houck was there and he'll start for us while houck is here. as for stockar, even the lions didn't want him :shakeno:

I love that Houck has not shown any favouritism towards McIntosh and has given Carey a very fair go in the LT spot. But I think that he is better suited to RG or RT. I think that McIntosh will be a solid LT this year and that Carey will be our best OL this year as well.

Mac came back early last year from an injury. Give the guy credit for trying to help the team....Because last year frankly, they needed it. He is a good lineman and remember you are only as strong as your weakess link.

Anyone see the clip of practice this week on the official site? It was pretty cool and showed some of the practice techniques we are using with our various units, including the O-line.

I disagree. McIntosh will stick. He played injured last year. Most likely he and Carey will be our tackles this year and next, as well. McDougle? He couldn't hold onto the starting RT position. He may very well end up starting at some point this year; but if it happens, it will most likely be due to an injury.

I couldn't agree more!
Wise made a comment last year during TC that it would be Nov-Dec before we would know about this line. He was asked to clarify the next day and he backed off the statement in a way that it appeared someone told him to not say that. I said in a thread at the start of the off-season when they hired Houck this line would play better due to their time together. I was crucified at the time. ....I stated then and I will say it again. I do believe houck is a better coach than wise but Line play only improves with cohesion and playing time. It is the only position that you need a group to act as a single unit.

and if you look at last year, the line did play better in the latter half of the season.

Hadnot, Carey, and James are definete keepers. But now that teams have cut players, we need to look at the Free Agents list, and sign a veteran for a one-year deal just to upgrade our line this year. Preferrrably a Center and a Left Tackle, but we could use anybody, for instance: Martin Bibla, Matt O'Dwyer, David Brandt.......i also think for Safety, we should sign Junior Rosegreen, he would be a good addition to develop.
