I never for one second expected a win today. Possible, but most unlikely.

And the loss is OK. Yes, it's a knife in the guts, as all losses are. The blowout factor only makes it worse. But going 5 and out? C'mon, man. We had light years to go at the season opener. Even the '72 team wasn't built in one season.

So. How does the team respond? Do we rise up and play one game at a time? Or do we revert to how we played the first 5 games?

Listen, one win is just one win. And one loss (albeit a humiliation) is only one loss. We knew this headed in. But we hoped against hope, so now everybody is gutshot. Gase sucks, can Tannehill, so on and so forth.

Everybody said this game will define us. I say horse****.

Next game will.

I'd be really surprised if they had a huge letdown at home against AZ. They may not play well, but should be able to win. I'd love to see them angry and deliver a thumping, generating momentum for two huge division road games.

What I'm concerned about most is wilting @NYJ and @BUF with the playoffs [still] on the line, laying an absolute crapper like today. That would be typical of past Dolphins teams, and if that is again the result, how great could we possibly feel about the team?

This was the one game we could afford to lose. Baltimore now has the inside lane for the division title, we can still easily catch Denver, and we own the tiebreaker with the two teams chasing us. That buffalo game is looking huge now.

Even though they turned a 1-4 season around, if they finish the season 7-9 or 8-8, it's going to feel like typical Dolphins to me. I would still like Gase and be a bit optimistic for the future, but that doesn't change how I would feel. I really hope they respond next week.

Baltimore's schedule is dumb hard . . . the main issue is the AFC West teams.

I like the coaching staff but we lack talent. Tannehill is good enough as is Ajayi the WR core. We need a major talent infusion at guard and across the defence especially linebacker. VJ is a 3-4 guy so I wonder if we switch and load up at linebacker in FA and the draft. I think we'll finish 8-8 or 9-7 and miss out but I'm optimistic about where this team is headed.

Almost whatever happens the rest of the way this season has to be considered a success. More important than the won/loss record, this team finally has direction, the culture has changed, and you've got to feel like good things are in the future.

One loss doesn't change that, although certainly a playoff run looks tougher now. But, again after a 1-4 start playing meaningful games shows how far Miami has come.

The way things are looking at the moment the Dolphins will need to win out to get that last spot. I just don't see that happening.

Which dolphins will we see in December? The same ole same ole, with them fading and swooning? Or some resiliency and toughness?

I appreciate your perspective.
