Our D under Wannstache was better. Our LBs are huge question marks (Wheeler is a bust of a FA signing) as is some of our secondary (Wilson, Carroll).

Agreed, our linebacking corps leaves A LOT to be desired presently. If we can get another CB to play consistently next to Grimes (Patterson gets hurt too often to be consistent) that would go a long way to improving this defense.

Those Wanny defenses of the early 2000 were special championship caliber defenses. This defense is no where close to those. I belive it was 2003 or 2002 we sent almost the whole defense to the pro bowl. They were a waste
much like Marino's best years with a bad Tom Olivadatti defense. His name makes me cringe.

I dunno, holding SD to 16 is pretty good. Scoring 20 vs SD's defense is not so good. Offense still the much bigger problem. Give this defense 24-27 consistently and see what happens.

All defenses but the very greatest break eventually. All we needed was a bit better offense and we'd have been fine.
