Anybody else notice the Dolphins bad habit of calling 1 yard passes? I've seen at least 6 times this year the Dolphins had a 3rd and 4 or less, throw it, complete it, and still come up short. If your going to throw 1 and 2 yard passes on 3rd and 4 and shorter then just run the dang thing. I'm also sick of seeing the Dolphins essentially stop trying to score when they get up 7 pts or more. Henning/Sparano have been creative and good for the most part but they can definately improve in certain areas.p.s. punt the fn ball out of bounds anytime your near mid field for christs sakes.

we don't 'call' those plays. Chad just checks down. A lot.

Thats why he has the nickname "check down" chad. He is who he is, and luckily so far his passive agressive style has worked for us.

in all fairness to the playcalling, and to Chad, when chad throws the ball to an open reciever, it is up to that reciever to get the first

exactly, and sometimes that works and sometimes it doesn't. At least its not a pick.

Um no. When you run a pass play for the first down, you go to atleast the flags, or you end up 2 and thirty what ever in 3rd and 7's+

um really.. and what do you do if all your recievers at or beyond the flags are covered? I suppose you would throw it to them anyway and risk the interception, and eventually the game? Really smart :up:

Then we can listen to everyone who screamed for Chad to throw it past the marker, instead of checkiong down, scream at how bad he sucks when he does what everyone wants him to do and ends up throwing the game costing interception

The problem isnt Chad checking down when everyone is open. The problem is Chad taking 2 steps and throwing to the running back/te without checking his other options and gaining 1 yard on a 3rd and 3. Those plays look designed to be a quick hitter. Its not a case of Chad standing in the pocket looking for someone to get open.

i'm not sick of this, i was sick of last year when we lost all games like this one[minus one}

Nobody in here is sick of the Fins of winning bro. We're sick of them letting the Seahawks and Raiders of the world about beat us because the play-calling gets Wannstedt like with a lead.

I like winning

While it is frustrating not to get a first by throwing the ball short of the markers, it is preferable to trying to force it past the markers when no one is open. If you watched Philly today (I did as I kept track of the Fins on my computer) you saw the different approach by McNabb. He ended up with 13 points against the Bengals and had 3 INTs (should have had more) and the game ended in a tie only because Cincy missed a FG in OT. The Bengals' pass defense is not near as good as the Raiders.
I'll take the win! We got the points we needed to win.:hi5:
I don't think the playcalling was too bad today. Oakland is a team that gives up yards on the ground (and we got 222 rushing) but are stingy through the air (we got 160, some in key situations). Twenty first downs and 382 total yards is a good day. I think rushing was the way to go today. However we only put 17 points on the board. Our defense also played well (11 FD, 70 RY, 116 PY, and 0 TD).
This was a strange game where we did a lot of solid things but let the other team stay close by giving up sacks, having penalties (some questionable) at key times, and poor special teams play.

He isn't even looking past the flags, it is 2 steps and a short throw. Wow that is a lot of extra stuff you threw in there.

these are the kind of things that drive me nuts...i actually like the fact that chad checks down when he needs to...and he throws it down the field when he can....the guy limits his mistakes and the playcalling is ideal for him...sometimes in football when its not there you have to throw it short and hope your receiver can make a play

when i saw the title of the thread, i thought you were going to rant about posts from random people who claim they know football better than the professionals...

hell, while we're on the sarcastic note, i still haven't figured out why we don't just score touchdowns every play? is it to give the defense a little more rest???
